Missed a few updates from this site. After doing brakes, I did a day at Cadwell. Apart from a bit if fog, and a canoe putting oil all round the circuit causing delays, it was an amazing day. Cadwell is incredible. Have to go back. Current project at work is crazy, and on holiday at the moment. Have bought some new (old) wheels to replace the cracked ones (found two cracked at Cadwell), and painting them myself (track wheels don't need to be to pretty). So will have them to show off soon. They cost me £40, but we're in a bit of a state: Progress so far: I have done a pretty rough job. The inside of the wheels was caked with canoe. Basically used a quite aggressive wire wheel on the drill to take all the crap and paint off. So not particularly smooth, but they don't need to be... The summer is moving very fast, and a bit worried I am not going to get anther track day in... Have to buy some new tyres too

Finished my "6 foot" job on my wheels: Got some soft NS2Rs waiting to go on, and booked in at Bedford next Monday. Can't wait. Had a scare today when i was trying to sort out my oil temp gauge and noticed a dodgy connection. Then couldn't start car. fortunately, it was just a fuse. However, think my oil temp gauge is dead - which is annoying.

Finally plucked up the courage to start fitting the rails and brace from whisper. Got them in place, and ready to start drilling. Just a bit scared! The rails needed quite a lot of abuse to get back into the right size. They are now very lumpy... But was very surprised at how fresh they looked under all the gunk. Managed to beat the rails into submission. All drilled, old rails cleaned back, rust converter done and then underseal on top. Then... I started poking around the sills... This one hasn't been done before: This one has... Ooh, and I changed the fuel filter while I was there too.

I can imagine how scary it is drilling into the car! I'm not sure I'd have the courage!

I can imagine how scary it is drilling into the car! I'm not sure I'd have the courage! There was a fair amount of measuring before drilling. Still think i should have moved them back a little but. but it is done now... My exhaust touches the butterfly brace, but that is my fault for having a cheap exhaust. Will see how it goes, but may just remove that until I get a new exhaust (that is next on the shopping list anyway).

So. My current plan is to reshell the car, and get all rust sorted on new one, and seam weld etc. Decided to get a welder and learn (will get a pro to do the sills and difficult bits) Nut sure how long it will take, and pretty sure I am under estimating the asking if quirk. But let's see... Picked up the donor today: Also decided to sort out garage. Have lots of old cupboards dotted around, and a very shaky workbench that doesn't use the space well at all. So have ordered a tool chest, and some bits to make shelves. Just sorting an order from my timber merchant so I can build a decent bench as well. Need to sort out some sort of lift to. Getting bored of jacking it up all the time. A busy winter ahead...

Built myself a new bench today. Fed up with the crappy thing that was here before we moved in. Step one on the way to sorting garage and having a bit more room to try to reshell over the winter. Have tool chest to transfer a load of stuff into, and putting up a load of shelves as well to try to move stuff up off the floot to give me some more space. step 1:
