After Llandow I've done a fair bit of thinking. It was a great weekend and one I want to run again. Much as the LeMans idea is a good one, the success of LLandow have mde me question the validity of LeMans being 5Fest for 2018.
My current thinking is to run two events for 2018.
1 - Llandow V2.0 This would be essentially the same as this year. Early summer. A couple of nights camping, a trackday, a hoon round the mountains. It would be a forum members/invite only event. Llandow just isn't big enough to deal with anything else but it's the pefect venue for a forum only weekend.
2- 5Fest V2.0 Late summer Blyton Park Weekender. 2 Days of track action on a saturday and Sunday. Camping friday and Saturday night (maybe a marque with DJ on the Sat night). Clubstands and traders on the sunday. This is basically the same as the OC event which they have now moved elsewhere.
Number 1 I can and will osrt easily myself, lots of lessons learnt from this year. Number 2 is a big ask. I've already contacted Blyton and they recommended I speak to Nick at MOT to discuss the idea. MOT would run the track aspect, we'd be responsible for the rest. And when I say we I mean it. There's no way I can organise that kind of event on my own. I'd need at least a couple of people to help plan and organise. The weekend itself would require a good handful of people in HiViz to run the event on the ground. hose people would need to commit to it and not flake out.
Thoughts people?

I'm 100% down with option 2.
I'll help anyway I can.

I think for me personally I would need to choose one or the other, it's a bit pricy to do two summer track days plus I tend to get quite booked up with all sorts of things.
With that said, I am more than happy to help out more next year.

5fest llandow was a winner. Happily do that again. Not sure I'd be able to afford both Sounds amazing though. I wanted to visit the ring next year.

I'd quite be happy to give some time/resource for a Blyton weekend. I'm not that good with organising stuff, but I'm sure I could help in other ways.

I really enjoyed Llandow, it was great fun, easy to get to lots of places to stay locally I would deffo make it an annual thing and be the first event in my diary! I like the low key affair that it is I think it makes it easier to interract and less complicated - So option 1 is my preference. However i would think about getting block bookings in early for local travellodge / premier inn for those that dont like camping so we can all be in the same place as much as poss - easier to meet up for the Sunday run (missed you lot sunday, i still think you all waited round the corner until you saw me leave the cafe!!!!) i can also see that option 2 would be a great event but once you have others involved outside the forum its less easy to control and would lose some of its charm I think (this is exactly what happened to a music event i organised - tried to get too big and was let down by others that i needed to rely on!) Saying that if you can get the commitment from people to help and it is viable - do it and they will come! For me doing both would depend solely on the competition calendar - will always do the Llandow one though!!

Yeah I agree with Rickster that I think the most fun after a trackday is the "bants" afterwards. If we can book a hotel cheap (£30-35/night) we could try and get more people staying in the same place. The camping at Llandow is super convenient, but is it worth more than the joy of a proper bed? For Blyton I think more people camping would make it better as long as there's somewhere dry for everyone to congregate in the afternoon/evening.

My initial thought was "damn. Blyton is far away I won't be going!" Then I stuck it in Google maps and it's only around 10 miles more than the trip to llandow. So no excuse really!
So yeah. I'd be down for Blyton for sure. And hopefully llandow too.
Might be worth trying to find a hotel where we can bulk buy rooms or something? I cant do camping!

Love the Blyton idea. I went to the OC 2 dayer there a few years ago and it was great. I think they now have 3 different circuit layouts now too so can mix it up over the 2 days. I think that would be perfect and you could easily get a few of the northern lot that are part of combustionpunks to join mighty5s for that. I didn't realise that the OC weren't doing it at Blyton any more.. why is that??
I guess it would come down to price, but I'd be happy to help out any way I can to make that happen. I guess if you could get the numbers so you can do 2 days on track with different layouts people should be happy to pay in the ballpark of £200 if that's achievable?
All in all I think it's a great idea, but like you said, would take a good deal of planning and help on the weekend.

My 2 pence... Llandow was fantastic, that should be the priority for next year, I haven't heard a bad word said by anyone (although I did leave before the campsite saw the bench... cough Horney). Maybe running tickets in a similar fashion to retro rides would be good i.e. those who went this year get access to tickets a week before others, then members here for a week and then open to the public? that obviously gets my vote as I went this year Blyton; pricing would all be based on numbers able to attend, youd likely get a few more going from oop north as its more local for them. Might be a bit adventurous doing two events in a year but I'd be happy to help out organising if needed. If it were up to me, I know it isn't!, then id focus on Llandow and trying to grow that... maybe book the track for an additional day and get a different load of people in? The numerous offers for a passenger lap was amazing (and awesome) that I could of happily gone and just been a passenger all day, or drive a day with a mate as a passenger and swap roles the 2nd day?

Maybe an idea but what about running 2 days at llandow with one day being a trackday and the 2nd a sprint event very much like what nick does with the mot trackday/sprint at blyton. Have few basic classes few trophies for each class and overall etc be a good way to get people into competition motorsport but at a fun affordable level. Limit numbers for the sprint and you can run plenty of runs throughout the day much more than msa style sprints.

I'm more than happy to help out or give on day and bring the new race exocet with me as long as doesn't clash with a race meeting next year.

If you go for about 35 max on the sprint you'll easily get 8 runs in the day- 2 practice then onto timed runs. The people who aren't doing the sprint can go do the valley run?
