Hi all.
A slightly random question I realise... But has anyone changed the oil pressure switch recently?
I ask as I am putting mine in, and in the Haynes it says to torque it to 15Nm. So I duly set my wrench but it seemed too much and I chickened out. On such a fine, small thread I felt it was ready to snap so end up leaving it at 10.
Has anyone done this recently?
Cheers

Cheers Feel is a good tester for low torque settings - I don't trust my torque wrench at anything less than about 30nm if it doesn't leak - should be fine

Stupid question maybe But, is the switch’ Thread tapered or parallel (with a sealing washer)? If tapered then it doesn’t need to be very tight as the taper seals & ‘locks’ (hopefully) As to parallel with a sealing washer, this only needs to compress & slightly deform the washer to seal As to actual measureable torque, I’m guessing it’s needing a spanner or ‘crows-foot adaptor to fit on a conventional torque wrench? Personally I’d Just give it a ‘nip’ & go from there Rich.

Too much thought, tighten it by hand, it won’t fall off...

Yes. I torqued it to just enough. Wasn't very concerned with specific torque.

Thats fair - I'll just be sad if it ends up leaking...!

As Zed said before, ISTR it has a tapered thread on it so is self sealing, if you’re really worried wrap a bit of PTFE tape on before installation, but it shouldn’t be necessary
