So a couple of weeks ago I had a short break in the Peak District.
Fabulous weather top down every day.
But this isn't about that.
on my way up the M1 I could feel the car getting very "loose" at the back end.
Sod it I though, a puncture. Oh it's a 2.0 NC 2006 car.
So I got off the motorway at the Derby turn off put some "air in a can" in and limped to the nearest tyre/exhaust garage.
Her I got right Royal shafted for a top-notch Eastern European unheard of tyre.
Ok, it was round and pumped up.
I dribbled through the country side to Matlock Bath, my destination.
Spent 4 lovely days blasting about and then made my way back to the M1 to head home.
Holy crap!!!
What's happened to my car?
Full power upshift at 70Mph and then reapply the power ....... I'm heading for the central Armco and great velocity!
Now alerted to this new style of driving I tried it again. Yep. Still doing it ... what the ... Hucking Fell!
This is lethal.
So it was a few hundred miles at below 60Mph to be safe.
On getting home I get the car up in the air on my two post lift.
Well the rear ARB drop links are a bit past their best .... change them,
no, no difference.
What the hell is it then?
in desperation I decide to swap the rear wheels around, side to side.
Took the car out ... ah ha!
Yes, big difference. No longer trying to kill me.
It was now slightly moving to the N/S.
So it was tyre related.
The remaining origional tyre was almost at the legal limit of wear.
And the new one obviously, er well, new.
I ordered up a set of the tyres below.
Cracking deal on e-bay as always and had them fitted.
Now all is well no twitching and handling just great as it should do.
Conclusion.
Always fit the rear tyres on an LSD equipped NC as a pair.
