I have a couple of vids from the trackside, one of me getting completely out of shape during a slide which my mate filming it found hilarious, but nothing on board as I stupidly left my GoPro plugged into the charger at home.
I'll get them onto youtube at lunch if my works wifi can stand it, otherwise it'll be later tonight
definitely on for oxford, get paid on Thursday so I'll book me and james in then.

That was test 2, and then test 4 which was 3 again.
Clearly a lot quicker than me, looks like you had a LOT more grip than me!
(and talent...)

I have reasonable grip considering the number of events those tyres have done, but most of that comes from not being too greedy and moving the weight about for grip, it's taken me loads of events to learn to reign my self in and control it, my autosolo vids at the beginning of the year were a lot more exciting but much slower I've still got a long way to go before I am at the level of say Mike where he can jump in and knock a good time out first up, and then do it again and again, I have a steady ramp up to a good performance throughout the day.

I get too overexcited!! After my first few runs I was actually shaking from adrenalin!!! Like you say, to improve times you need a blend of speed and control.

It'll come the more you go out, you'll find a style that suits you and start getting a real handle on the car, the more I did the more impressed I got with the 5 as I started to understand this RWD thing. If you are lucky as part of your motorclub you might also get invited to the odd demo or charity day where you can do that all day for free giving passenger rides, that's always a good crack as times aren't important and you can play more

One of James' in his Mk1 (binner from Nutz, not sure if he is on this forum), little more drifty than me but he was still quite quick with it, it's test 2.
I think he came 4th Overall in the Clubmans event, so he was peddling well most of the day.

On demo days where times are less important James will drift the whole course linking up the gates switching left to right etc, he's quite good at it, me not so much.

If I ever get to the point of being able to drift between gates and link the drifts together I will consider myself a driving god regardless of lap times!
The Ross MC on the 18th is cancelled according to their website so the next one is Oxford for everyone I guess..

Thought I'd say hello, I had a great time Sunday. The whole event was well run and very welcoming. I'll be doing some more events for sure. More practice is needed. I was far too off the pace to call mine a good performance!

This thread is definitely whetting my appetite, I must say.
If I'm honest though I'm a little worried about whether it would be quite hard on my car? Or am I just being a pansy?

Its not too hard on the car, that particular event is a bit bumpy, most are not, it does of course take some life out of the tyres, not so bad in the 5 as it is well balanced and one set of wheels isn't trying to do all the work, but it'll give your cooling system a workout though, so if something is about to fail, for example, coolant pipes at the rear of the engine love to go on these as the cars are old and the pipes are perishing, perhaps better here than on the motorway in holiday traffic. Its great fun those as those new to it have said above, when you consider you probably haven't gone much over 40mph, it is a surprise the adrenaline rush a few cones, a stop watch and a car park can bring. But yes, stop being a pansy
