I've got the Rod Grainger one - it lives in the car, behind the seats, so if I get stranded, I have got some hope of having a stab at fixing it lol

The Hank's guys. I bookmarked that 80 quid Halfords job.l which got 4 stars. Seems a sensible-ish option to add to my wish list.

I still have the Haynes one,MK1 - 2 89 - 55 i didn`t let go when i sold my 5 recently. It did cost me nearly £20 though,so i`d hope for a few tokens to let it go if you are interested V6 ? 89 - 55? Back to the Future? Is that supposed to be 89 - 95? Mine is a 1.8 1997

It`s quite handy,i used it to learn some stuff. It only has a couple of small dents,no rust. £10 posted any good? I`ll be getting a mk3 or 4 to convert to EV next.

Wow, an EV conversion is a random move. Hopefully I'll be rocking some ITBs for another decade yet (once I've saved up for them ) We will all be in an EVs at some point, but I'm in no rush yet. Although if you get insane numbers it may be interesting. I've seen a 90-97 Haynes I may go for as it looks more vintage, but thanks very much

They look very impressive. Although as a drag car of course you can wind up the power to as much as you like if you don't need any range. Not really a replacement for an all round daily, weekend or track car.

I have been racing electric RC cars for over 20 years round twisty tracks, they can handle superbly,John Waylands "White Zombie" gets used as a daily and will kill a Veyron down the strip. 2010, The main thing that is missing these days is the sound of ITB`s or a nice sounding ICE and OK you do need to think about range and charging,i bet you have never driven a 1:1 EV? honestly, you should try one,i would suggest an ugly Leaf,it will open your mind and i don`t mean that in any way disrespectfully and i know it can never replace your 5. I still love ICE ,i was brought up on it,but the MX5 and Electric go together so well,i`m kind of stunned Mazda havn`t done a proddy one yet. Looking at Nicks up the hill video just has me itching for an EV 5 so bad i can`t tell you.

As a bit of history,i tested a prototype electric 1/5 McLarenF1 back in 2002 and unfortunately wrote it off in under 5 minutes,i crashed it,it was mashed ,but it didn`t put me off at all. I could see it`s true potential.

I wish you luck. It all sounds interesting, in a crazy way. Who knows, maybe in a decade there will be proven off the shelf EV conversion kits for our cars.
I suspect better batteries will really pave the way. I read an article about batteries which charge up 2000 times quicker and hold almost the same percentage more, due to aerated cores adding surface area. They are currently working but only tiny. They need scaling up.
