In another universe this might be called a Random Disclosure Thread Not sure what that emoticon is but it'll do. I wasn't sure if we needed one with the Shoutbox but it doesn't take links/clips/pics so I reckon there's a place for stuff which isn't worth starting a specific thread about. Maybe it should be called The Pub. I'm sure one of the mods will change it if preferred and add some sub-text along the lines of "Stop in for a virtual pint and some banter". Or something catchy.

Gawdammit. Internet connection failed and I lost what I had typed.
Summary - daughter's clio is crap. Bought a C1 to replace it. Not looking forward to helping her sell the clio because it's horrible and I'm too honest.

I was selling s POS car once. I was constantly (and justifiably) deriding the car while a potential buyer was looking at/around it and I think it triggered something of an antagonistic reaction in him, as he tried to persuade me it's not so bad. He bought it just to show me it's not that bad.
Hmm, maybe I'm missing a career in sales?

Reverse psychology...there's definitely something in that. Last car I sold was my rusty mk2 mazda a few years ago. Told the guy it was getting rusty and sent him loads of photos of the rust - advised him not to come to see it when it was dark, said he should wait until the weekend when he could view and drive it in the daylight. Persuaded him not to transfer all of the money into my bank before even seeing it. He did take that advice but insisted on coming up in the dark, without a torch and buying it without a test drive. Didn't even start it up until he was leaving.

When do we stop being New Here? What's next anyway - making a start?
I think that should be changed to something motor related. Mk1, mk2, mk2.5, etc would be too contentious.
1- 9 posts = 1st gear 10 posts = 2nd gear 50 posts = 3rd gear 250 posts = 4th gear 500 posts = 5th gear 1000 posts = overdrive
No more gears after that, this isn't Fast & Furious.
Probably should have posted this in the suggestions thread but I don't like to stray from my comfort zone.

Once you go over 100 posts you'll go up to the next rank. It's a surprise.

Corders will probably be the first non-mod to reach 100 so I'll keep watch to see what he turns into...

I can see into the future. Only about a week though which is less than ideal. Bah, I meant to quote Corders' post. Now it just looks like I'm boasting

My policy of being 100% upfront about the two minor issues with the clio I'm selling has not borne fruit. When it's cold it misfires for the 1st half mile because it needs a new coolant temp sensor, and if left unused for 10 days the battery will drain due to a slow parasitic drain on a circuit (previous owner put in a bush button starter yo). Both issues could be hidden from prospective buyers by 1) warming the car, and 2) simply not mentioning it. I may have to change tact and start being deceitful, about the battery drain at least.
