Just a note, if you haven't done already don't tell your insurance company! although no claim was made you would still have to disclose it on future policies because its 'part of your driving history' and it will put your policy up a minimum of £40! (I work in car insurance so deal with this all the time)

+1 to the above - I had someone reverse into my car (then try to hide their car ) while I was 40 miles away, who 'was just going to put a note on your car' when I knocked at 9pm that night Got some quotes, he went WTF, he paid up rather than going through insurance (IIRC). I mentioned it to my insurance company - Insurance company then tried to remove my NCB next year! Words were had...

Yeah honestly, before I worked here I didn't realise just how much of a shaft insurance is. DO not tell them anything, or call them about anything unless its actually happened and you need to. they will put it on your file which goes on a data base for 80% of the insurance world to see, and they will push your premium up because some chumps decided not to pay any attention!

Thanks guys. Nothing has been said. It was only a very minor cosmetic bump.

Car is booked in for a repair. The Tailgate McNoIndicate numpty paid for it today up front. Hopefully hassle over. What. Lies.

It was weird in that they wanted to pay the garage directly rather than me. I guess they wanted to make sure I spent it on the car. But whatever, they paid £500 today so that is fine by me.

That's fair enough though. What did the repair entail? Replacement wing, or pull the dents and re-paint stuff?

Maybe over cautious but, if it took a hit on the wheel get the alignment checked to be sure. I know mine was nudged by a lorry on the rear wheel but alignment wasn't checked during the repair and it needed a new tyre at the next MOT.

The work hasn't been done yet. I just sent the photos of the damage to the garage I've used for years. They said 500 to 700 worst case to sort it. They won't know an exact price or what to do until they see the car in person. Because the garage is in Essex (near my family) and I'm in Middlesex I won't be back there for another week.
In the mean time they have been paid 500 as a deposit from the lunatic. If it costs more they promised to cover the balance. I wanted some money up front to make sure they paid. I didn't want to just take their word for it and not report it, as I could have been left in an awkward position.
Oh well, seems painless so far.

I won't be telling anyone as I gave my word. They have held up their end so far. I'll be happy just having it mint again in a couple of weeks.

If they're working on the inside of the wing, good time to get it all waxoyled?
