Canoe yeah! Welding cart finished and painted. And you can see the exhaust bits in the background too I've got some picture frames to do before that (you can see that in progress on the chip saw as well), but making the cast was very good practice for my (lack of) welding skills.

Finally started my exhaust. Dont worry - the tubing is for a desk, not the exhaust. Belt sander is a real cheapo from harbour freight. I bought it for woodwork but it is being quite useful in squaring up the tubing. Got the first run from the down pipe with one bend in it mocked up so far. Going for a single silencer at the moment. I am expecting that to be too loud, but thought I would give it a go. This is what I was thinking for the exhaust exit (Yes, i will put it in the centre befre anybody asks...) What do you think? I would idelaly like it a big higher if it's going to come out like that , but the boot floor gets in the way. I could probably go an inch higher (look at me with my old fasioned measurements)

Nice project to take on. How are you going to protect the bumper from the heat?
Have you considered a twin pipe trim on the exit? I think it would look good on your car/in that location.
I am jealous of your new workspace! Certainly more elbow room than your old one đ

Love a centre exit exhaust, as above your garage space is massive! and you've got a quick jack! Looks like enough space for a 2 post lift

I have been looking for something to protect the exhaust, but haven't had a lot of luck. I was thinking about trying to make something out if sheet metal. I'm still not too sure at the moment Any bright ideas? I was toying with twin, but I think I like the simplicity of a single, plain pipe. Yeah, the garage is f ucking huge. I am about to lose a couple of feet to a new downstairs bathroom for parents who will visit once or twice a year... Ho hum. I really want a two post, but I think that might be pushing my luck. That would need a new floor to support it as well I have been buying tools recently to kit the garage out a bit more. Got the welder, and as well as car stuff, I plan to make some benches in the garage, and wheel rack for the winter wheels, some cupboards in the house and desks for my sewing room. I bought a table saw that is older than me, but worked perfectly because it's not made out if plastic. Not my pictures, but one of these: vintagemachinery.org/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=3186Will add some pictures once I start making stuff. Just waiting on some supplies, and a few more tools ..

Actually made something! This gets to the diff. I am just waiting on some new stiffer exhaust hangers before I can get the back box and this piece of artwork mounted up and try to join them up. It's a bit tight and I don't want everythign wobbling around and banging on the brace. Which the old one used to do.

Exhausts rattling off the brace were the bane of my existence! For inspiration, if you google "mr.woolery miata", he has the shorty bumper with a centre exit, for some inspiration HERE

âlook at me with my old fasioned measurementsâ Youâre in the USA now, proper measurements! I get it... for small distances (i.e. feet and smaller) it's easy to do in your head and all that shizzle. But i still struggle to get used to it. The best thing is recipes. Cups! it really is so much easier. I haven't had to weigh any ingredients since i got here (apart form my old recipes from home) For temps and date format - they can go and f uck themsleves. I will die on a hill for that. Any sort of scientific measurements, ISO all the way.

I am the opposite, brought up with feet and inches, thousandths of an inch etc. Pound and ounces. The conversion to litres from Gallons was the biggest con. We lost track of the prices. Iâd ditch the metric system, but generations would be flummoxed, so itâs not practical, sadlyâŠ

Got a bit further with the exhaust. Have built back from the down pipe to just in front of the diff, and have also mounted the rear box. just need to connect them now... Hvae decided to go single exit in the middle of the bumper. I just need to get the exhaust in so i can run it and i'll get it tuned with no bumper on it (in fact, will have to remove the front as well to get it on the towing dolly. Still don't have documents to be abel to drive it here...
