I didn't want to jump on the other thread about Black Friday...
but I think its a real shame that Black Friday has been taken so far by Amazon and subsequently every online retailer.
The whole point of Black Friday was the physical retailers having a national 'Just after last payday before xmas' push, to get people out of their armchairs and into high streets. With the online community taking it on so extremely, retailers have lost out yet again.
High street shops are dying, regardless of what people say. Shops are losing to online partly because people are lazy and partly because the lower overheads means lower cost. So they either put their prices even higher or have sale events to try and get people in. When the online sale falls on the same day and prices even lower the shops have nowhere to go.
Town centres will be coffee and charity only by the end of the decade.
Its a shame Cyber Monday didn't take off, but again, that's Amazons doing.

My main issue with Black Friday is that it's an American thing. It's the day after Thanksgiving, which we don't do.
My other issue is, we half rear canoe it too, you get proper drops in prices in the states, and here you get a noname branded TV in Asda for the price it probably should have been in the first place lol

I've had a few power tools in my basket for a while on Amazon, need to replace my aging stuff so figured I'd see what the sales brought.
The prices of some of these tools had gone up for the month or so before black friday, and then dropped again in the 'sale'
I've always said, know what you want and know what it is selling for elsewhere. Otherwise black Friday will con you.

Just ordered a CF CarbonMiata Ducktail for the MK3 from Fast5. Normally £225 shipped, got it for £175 shipped. I'd wanted one ever since I bought the car but couldn't stomach spending that amount, the sale price was a big enough discount for me to jump in with both feet.

This! A crappy TV 'discounted' to exactly what it should have cost in the first place exactly symbolises Black Friday for me. The first year that the retailers hyped it up people just lost their minds and fought over whatever off-brand prarrie canoe had a sale ticket on it. So the inevitable reaction against it kicked in the next year and some stores just dropped the idea entirely. Maybe eventually it'll calm down and there will be some genuinely worthwhile bargains. Maybe.

It's ok. Everyone who buys one of those Polaroid TVs in ASDA will regret it, I had one (which I bought at full price not on any deal), I had it for about two weeks before it broke - so got an LG one instead.

Black Friday is pretty much a waste of time. Horney has got the best deal I've heard of so far.
I work in IT and have worked with Amazon for a number of years. When it comes to Black Friday they near enough bully suppliers into offering a discount (Which they set the bar at) and then charge them for the pleasure, if you don't pay your kit doesn't get advertised.
Not only that but lately it was shown the majority of electronic goods are cheaper after Black Friday (I will find the report) and some online and on the high street retailers have been found guilty of inflating the original price to convince people they're making a better saving.
90% of the time it's a big con.

Me again...
Before you buy anything on the black Friday deals it's worth checking what you're going to buy on the below site, will show you if you're actually saving money.
uk.camelcamelcamel.com (Yes, it is a genuine site)
