Just as a random thought, would you be able to fabridave (see what I did there) a one piece extended gear shifter? Basically copy the OEM design, just extend the shaft by 2-4"? If so how much would you be looking for in beer tokens?

If you look about you can find these on the interweb. Don't have a link but I have seen them. Also different cranked angle ones, should you want that.
Rich.

The only ones I've seen are the ones that screw on top of the OEM ones to extend it that way.. I'm trying to find one complete piece and google is failing me

Miataroadster do what I think you'd be looking for, incorporating a short shifter. Stock shifter with 4" extension is horrible to use.

Miataroadster are the only ones that make these that I've found, and are horrifically expensive. What I've done is get an eBay short shifter, Jass 2" extension, and a brass bush and that feels nice and tight and about the right throw, whilst getting it closer to my left hand. I tried just the extension and as above it was lame.

Linky me in plzzzzzzzzz I can't find it now, have the receipt at home somewhere but not back for a couple of weeks. I bought it off an RX7 shop, it's the same part. To be honest, a new plastic one will probably be just as big an improvement over the old one, but I was in a 'why not?' mood
