It is a good site, definately shows how running these things should be done.
HSA have a pretty good championship too, lots of info on that site from past results, reports, records etc, even a half decent sprinting mag, great place to start, competed in it for the past two years and would do again if not for calender clashes, will not doubt be in it again at some point.

Ive fitted a nice shiny short shifter as developed by Toby . A very Nicely made component! Out with the old. In with the new. Nicely close to the wheel and about 45% less throw than before.

Love the car and videosπ. I may have missed it in the thread but I was wondering if you are running an oil cooler and/or coolant re-route?

Thanks for the reply. Think an oil cooler is the next thing on my list to fit.

Gurston Down 16th-17th June 2018 Before the Gurston event I changed my discs and pads all round. The drivers side front had developed a nasty crack and the Axxis ULT pads were starting to crumble... No wonder the brakes had felt like a week spot on the car the last few events! New Carbotech Xp8 pads were fitted on plain vented Brembo discs up front and plain solid Brembo rears. The pads were bedded in as per Carbotech instructions. I struggled to get used to the new brakes on Saturday at Gurston - finding them very grabby and snatchy -but very powerful, causing me to have several lock ups, I lost confidence in threshold braking and put in some slower times than I would have liked. I came away from Saturday disappointed with my driving - but took points for 2x 3rd place finishes. Sunday the brakes felt immediately much much better - huge power and good pedal feel with none of the snatchiness of Saturday. Perhaps a second bed in was required - as mentioned in the Carbotech manual. "Low dusting pads" Psychological rain played havoc with the timed runs on Sunday, with fine drizzle coming down to the point of needing the wipers, Gurston has an abrasive track surface which means it takes a fair bit of precipitation to effect the track, even with this in mind it was hard to attack 100%. I lost out in both timed runs by 2 tenths to my closest rivals Impreza. The class win being taken by Simon Neves rapid Evo 6. A positive from the weekend was a new final sector PB of 9.54 seconds - knocking almost 2 tenths of my previous best, and a 95MPH finish speed. Perhaps a slight sticky calliper was holding the car back a little before the brake service? The short shift kit is also a pleasure to use and feels so positive! The Midland championship round at Prescott this weekend will be my last event on the SG compound R888 tyres. Ive rotated the fronts to the rear for this weekend in a bid to improve start line traction as the rears are significantly more worn than the fronts. I will be getting a set of the new Toyo R888R fitted prior to the next Gurston round where I want to see a new PB. Take home car of the weekend. This Lotus Elite.

Prescott 24th June Midland Hillclimb Championship Warm and dry weather made a nice change from the cold and drizzle of my last visit in April. This was a single day event with two practice runs in the morning and two timed competition runs after lunch. I arrived early and after unloading the contents of the boot, sticking on my competition numbers and attaching my beam breaker I was ready to walk the course. The track was looking in fantastic condition, being well swept by the one day meeting the previous day. There seemed to be a good layer of rubber down in the key areas. With no threat of rain throughout the day - a PB run had to be on the cards! Could the magic 49 second barrier be broken and a 48.99 be on the cards? Prior to the weekend my PB was a 49.63. The Class record stands at 46.06 held by Porsche 911 Turbo. The class was made up of a who's who of road going group A rally cars - we just needed a Intergrale and a Pulsar GTiR to complete the pack. The man in the class to beat would be Roy Standley, the ex class record holder in his extremely well developed Evo 5 RS. The car is rumoured to have near 700bhp. Roy has been campaigning the car ever since I can remember and now even in his 70s he's lost none of his speed! Practice went smoothly with the car performing well - but the driver needing to push harder. I had a small dose of hillclimb shakes after P1 and that was only a steady 51 second run! Practice 2: I committed more to the long left hander at Orchard and saw a good improvement in time to record a 49.93 - just 3 tenths off my PB. Orchard corner is my current favourite on the calendar. You approach it flat out in 3rd gear and pass under the bridge speed trap at over 70mph. Orchard is a long long long corner and you gradually feed the car in well before the very late apex. You lift the throttle in the middle of the corner as you feel the cold front tyres start to gently push on. As the corner tightens you wind in some more lock then start adding throttle as you feel the car gaining grip, the right hand side of the car is really loaded up at this point and it feels great to have the car balanced on the edge of grip for such a long time. The first competition run was going very well until I missed a gear coming out of Pardon hairpin - 49.80 - but what could have been. Competition 2 and it was now or never for a PB. Everything went well and a 49.51 PB run was recorded. Two third place finishes meant a good Midland championship points haul for the weekend. Roy won the event with a near record breaking run in his Evo. Second was another Evo this time of the VI Variety. 1st Roy Standley Evo 5 RS 46.23 2nd Paul Harris Evo 6 48.26 3rd Jon Maycock MX5 49.51 4th David Parr Sierra Cosworth 51.38 5th Adam Pemble Celia 51.57 6th Mike Andrews R32 GTR 51.67 7th Fiona Rogers Impreza 52.42 Onboard: Post weekend analysis of times show Im quick thought the "Ettores" sector (from the bridge to the braking zone for the pardon hairpin) but to no surprise loose out on all the straights relative to the big power 4wd cars. Im thinking of buying a KAAZ diff or the like to try and help drive out of Pardon hairpin - as the Torsen does struggle here. Things could be interesting next season with another 50-70bhp. I feel a 48 is possible with the car as it stands but with the extra power Id like to think a 47 is possible. Next event is Gurston on the third weekend in July. Time to order myself some new tyres!
