Rear Bumper ShaveThere hasn't been much Datsun activity recently, due to travelling back to the UK. I dropped my car off with Nathan at Metal in Motion to have the rust at the rear end fixed, and the rear bumper shaved. Picked it up today and grabbed some quick pictures. Here's a before: And some after: This is the rust patch that was also repaired - this went through all three metal skins: Renewed the rear light seals and the boot shut seal - and there was also three seals missing which are now fitted. Absolutely over the moon with how it came out, exactly as I had imagined!

hot damn. thought of getting a gurney flap done ? I'm on the fence where to go next. I really like how clean the rear end looks now, and would like to remove the chrome strips from the side and sills. I'm tempted by a chin spoiler as well:

I bought another one, this time a 2+2. Much smaller, cheaper and probably more fuel efficient. You're teasing us! Also, if that kind of thing interests you, Fujimi make a Fairlady Z 432 plastic kit. It's showing up at $35 on Amazon US. Thanks! I'd actually like one to try a few things out on to figure out where I want to go next. I just ordered a couple of kits to have a play around with.

I recon the kam back always looks best with a gurney, dems oppiniunz. Don't get me wrong, I like the look of them. I always thought I'd like to go the route of wider arches, colour matched to a ducktail or similar, but it's over done on these cars (and the body on this one is immaculate). If I'm being honest, the Rocket Bunny kit for the 240Z would be the dream, but the front wings don't do it for me:

the whole point of the gurney is to be small - much smaller than the spoilers in those kits ^^

btw on behalf of humanity plz don't go wide arches or stance. plz. I honestly don't think I could on this car. The body work is too good, I want to go more towards an OEM+ look. I do fancy some slightly wider and bigger wheels, maybe slot mags. Not sure what my winter plans are with the car. I really need to get the new heater core fitted, which looks like a pig of a job, and the steering rack bushings need to be replaced. Sorting out the interior should probably high up on the agenda as well.

^cool link! But I think a small curved ducktail is more aesthetically pleasing and period correct(ish).
Joey, that rear end is a thing of beauty now.

I'm going to mull over what to do next externally over winter, and have a play around with Photoshop. I eventually want to remove the chrome strips and sill plates, which is going to be a big job in terms of everything that will have to be painted, so I'd like to have everything decided before doing that.

Bison in MinnesotaWhat better way to get over the excesses of Thanksgiving than a hike through a state park on a nice crisp November day? We headed to Minneopa, a place I'd been a couple of years ago, where I took this image of the upper falls: The weather was a little colder this time, and the trees a little barer. We got closer to the lower falls: One thing I completely missed in 2015 is the Bison Drive. This is a 2.5 mile road through a stretch of prairie where there's a small herd of bison roaming wild. There's a cool radio station you can tune into as you drive down the road, and listen to facts about the herd and conservation efforts. The bison have right of way, regardless of how big your truck is. We ended up pretty close. At the end of the road, there's an old mill called Seppmann Mill, built in 1862 by a German immigrant.
