Hi everyone, name is Angelo, I'm 25 and I moved for work to Newbury last september and in mid october I bought my 4th mk1 MX5, a jdm import, which was kept in France as summer car but could not be registered for some reason, so it was brought back to the UK. After seeing some images of the underside I was very convinced about buying it, although it looked in pitiful state... I had already (sort of) restored an MX5 before so I decided to buy it on the day. Since then it's had new waterpump and cambelt, a new (used) soft top which I picked up for a bargain price and installed myself, Brembo discs and pads, MeisterR CRD coilovers, the BBS wheels and front lip from my previous Roadster which was sold in January, "new" bootlid and front bumper, which were the worst panel. A/C completely removed and so was the charcoal canister. It has been waxoyled aswell as I use it daily. This car has never been welded and has no rust at all, unlike my previous 3 mk1's Then I machine polished it and I cleaned thoroughly the interior, which is in immaculate conditions. Anyway this is what it looks like now, pretty much like my previous cars, as I've always had the same wheels lol, just a different colour. Plans are to get the wheels aligned this next month, and get back on track every now and then

welcome. I work in Newbury so I might see you around. Keep an eye out for either a grey or black NC.

Horney I know I've got you on facebook so I sort of follow the developments lol
Plan is to get the wheels aligned next month, and then the occasional track day.
Things I'd like to get are a roll bar (cusco, carbing type), finally change wheels to a dark grey/bronze set as I think these colours would look nice with the sad silver paint, and at some point a stainless steel exhaust.
As soon as I have some time I'll replace the shifter turret oil, the shifter rubber boot, and I bought a combo gearknob + handbrake leather cover, which I'll replace at the same time.
I've just been to solentmx5 once again tonight as the bottom pipe of the rain rail on the passenger side has sort of come undone for the second time, and the result is water drains through the sill, which is not ideal. "Fixed" again now, hopefully it'll stay in place (I didn't even touch it after the first time it was fixed). Has anyone ever had to fight with this (unusual) problem?
Also any local meets coming soon?
Thanks!

Hello guys, can anyone recommend a 4 wheel alignment place around Newbury?
Also if you have some alignment setup printouts please do share!

It's a bit of a trek but really a no brainier. The Wheel Alignment Centre in Southampton. He sets up all my MX5s, both road and race. The best bit is he only charges £40 for a complete set up. Most places charge £100+ Seems too good to be true, but it's not. We had a wheel alignment day down there last year.
Just make sure all your alignment bolts have been slackened off and re tightened first. They have a habit of snapping so he's not keen on trying to loosen seized ones on his ramp in case you end up stranded.

I knew you had the solution for me. I'll definitely go there then. I'm going to put up a post to see if anyone is interested in my wheels as it's my birthday next month and I'm thinking of treating the car to a set of anthracite Team Dynamics Pro Race 3. Here's a recent picture of the car

Looks great on the BBSs to be honest. Always been a big fan of those wheels. These Tailgate McNoIndicate e30 ones are just the right fitment on the 5 around offset etc and they're of the same era.

Thanks Horney. I've always thought the same. I've just had them for so long and I'm looking for a change. Anyway I treated the car with a nice OEM S-Special strut brace the last weekend: And just today I did a little job that I kept postponing for a few weeks. It took me about a hour and I replaced the rubber shifter boot, the turret oil and added some new leather around the gearknob and e-brake. Before: After: For the cost of all it's really worth doing, especially as it requires very basic mechanical skills, and I managed without messing it up (although it was my 2nd time)

You could always plasti-coat the wheels if you just fancied a change? Something garish for the summer sun? Or something more discreet? You could always get them powdercoated if you wanted something more permanent!

Little update: I recently transfered my tyres to my new Team Dynamics Pro 1.2 in Gloss Black and got me a hard top. This is what it looks like today.
