Just picked up this trolley jack from Lidl: Click meLooks good for £20 but not much stock. They seem to get an order of them in every so often They also have brake cleaner, high temp paint, a 12v oil suction pump with leads not long enough to reach an mx5 battery and wheel trims

Are they better than the standard Halfords trolley jacks?

I think there is a whole range of cheap jacks costing from £20 to £50, different colours and makes but all, exactly the same Chinese made product. For £20 they are probably worth it as a spare. I've got one - it ain't brilliant but it works.

I've got one - it ain't brilliant but it works. The low profile type chinese jack that usually goes around £40 to 50 is quite good, not flimsy and goes under even the most stancerest cars. Used mine for 3 years with no problems until an idiot mate broke it. Certainly can recommend it, jack that is, not an idiot mate.

There was me wasting my time looking for new wheels, when I could have just bought their wheel trims!

Will see if it goes under the boat this weekend...only about 30/40mm below standard
No chance it will go under bambi, the stance queen that she is 😄

Lidl tools are generally very good. I've got varying gizzits from them. Ron @ the flockshop has loads of the aldi/lidl special tools which I've borrowed on numerous occasions and the quality rivals my expensive halfords stuff tbh.

I bought the oil/fuel pump thingy as sooo cheap. However when I got it home and read the packaging properly it states only suitable for engine oil and diesel!? Ummm..

What did you plan to use it for?
I think mostly those things are used when it is difficult to get to the sump plug/owner is not able to lie under a car to remove it

At £12 I felt I should have it regardless. It also says not to pump water, perhaps clean it with diesel after?

Back to the original topic of the Lidl jack for £20. Do not buy. Flimsy piece of kak almost dropped Bambi, plus nearly sent James into a meltdown, at 2am might I add. Why, you may ask, were you working on a car at 2am?? Because roll bar. But yeah, don't buy it, and if you have, for goodness sake, only use it momentarily if you absolutely have to.
