Is there a difference between wheel nuts for steel wheels and nuts for alloys? My NA has got some pretty nasty red nuts and I need to get some that are a little less Corsa

generally some alloys will not fit standard 19mm wheel nuts and a socket to do them up so people buy internal, smaller external or interesting locking mechanisms are bought to fix the issue i would however advise against cheap alloy wheel nuts. They have a tendency to snap when put on tight

949 ones or rays if you're feeling more flush. I don't think anyone needs lucking nuts in this day and age ?

I've got some standard steel wheels to go on so I probably won't worry too much about locking nuts. I'll take one of the nuts off and see how it fits with a steel. Thanks for the help

Isn't it an insurance thing to have locking nuts?
I've seen any posts about stolen alloys for ages.

Nuts for steel wheels will usually be a one piece design, nuts for alloys will usually have a loose washer attached. If you use a loose washer type on a steel you will damage the washer, and if you use a solid on an alloy the abrasion of the solid face on an alloy can give a false torque reading.
Locking wheel nuts are an insurance item. If your car came with lwns as standard, then you take them off your insurance for wheel theft is invalidated if you remove them - if your wheels are nicked and they find out you took the nuts off they won't pay.

You better tell most of the Jap car makers then.
