There is one possible camera that may have seen it but they won't check it unless I give them a smaller time frame of between 10.30 and 2.45! Cheers then

Canoeers. I had it twice - fixed it the first time, it happened again literally two weeks later. Gnaaaaaaaargh I only hope my faith in karma is not misplaced. (And hurry it up, please.) Hope you can get yours fixed quickly / easily / cheaply.

Ask the police to request the footage? Wankers. May they burn in hell.

Good luck with the fuzz - the usual response nowadays seems to be "here's a crime number, and here's the door..."

I had my car damaged by guys putting signs and cones etc out for roadworks while my car was parked in the town centre, in broad daylight with CCTV cameras everywhere. When I returned to my car it was surrounded by signs etc big dent / scratch in my paintwork and my paint all over one of those large metal signs. I approached the workmen as they were getting in their wagon. Of course they denied any wrong doing and drove off.
I went round to the police station absolutely fuming. After keeping me waiting for around 30 minutes, the guy I spoke to said sorry but we have no control over those cameras, and said he didn't think the council would help me either.
Bloody pointless exercise it was.

What a world we live in. Hope you sent an invoice to the council... Well this is an interesting point! Why do you say that?

Bloody pointless exercise it was. If it's CCTV in a town, there is likely to be a central control room run by tthe local council. Under data protection rules you can request copies of information a council holds about you, but I'm not sure if that includes CCTV footage of you / your car. I would ring them to ask if you can speak to the centre, and/or write to request footage of you/your vehicle 'parked at X between Y and Z time'. Might work, give it a try!

What a world we live in. Hope you sent an invoice to the council... Well this is an interesting point! Why do you say that? If they've damaged the car then you could sue them to recover the cost of repairing the car. A letter before action with attached invoice, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on with the cctv footage.
