I've been thinking about doing this for a while now. I love my 7 spokes, they're light and I love 14s on a mk1. However they are swallowed up by the arches now the car is on coilovers. I finally found a car with a spacer setup with these wheels, can be found here on post 12: forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=7309950&postcount=12What does everyone think? I think they look great, they're 25mm bolt-ons. I might get some from Freaky Parts.

I might just. I want something with a bit of dish really, but anything in my budget is ridiculously heavy and I don't want that, love the feel of it with these on.

25mm spacers will make your steering feel different - on mine, it felt a little heavier. I got used to it pretty quickly though.

I like it. I would though... Good points here from Atlex mighty5s.com/thread/1998/wheel-spacersI once read somewhere that spacers also change ride quality slightly? Must be to do with leverage I guess. I'm not sure how hard they are to change... Not stupid hard I don't think.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Atlex's option is good as well actually, but I do like the idea of retaining the stock studs just in case I decided I don't want the spacers in the future, so that's something to think about.
The bolt-ons from Freaky Parts and the like are really simple to fit, meaning I can whack them on, drive it a bit, and if I don't like it just take them off and be done with it with not much effort.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts once you've done this, as I'm considering doing the same.

I will let you know. Interesting find though, so the consensus from the Freak himself is "I've physically checked the hubs on the car (mk1) and the fronts need to be a minimum of 28mm for the spacers to clear the studs. The rears need to be a minimum of 25mm to clear the studs." Source: www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77222However, the 7 spokes I am using have a recessed section around the mounting holes on the inside, essentially meaning that if you bought slighter smaller spacers that the hub studs stuck through by a few mm, it wouldn't foul the mounting face. This can be seen here: www.miata.net/garage/mx5wheels/Just thought it could be of interest to someone who didn't want to run 28mm on the front.

I swear I get wind noise from the arches since fitting my +45ET wheels!! Another reason for spacers

Yes mate, plug the gap haha!
On the wheel front, I've contacted JBW wheels (yeah I know Minilite reps, hurr durr, I wish I didn't have to but oh well), and they've got back to me on some weights:
Their 14x6 4x100 ET32 Minilight comes in at, quote: "5.85kg approx.". Not bad!
I also liked the look of their 15x7 ET20 Pepperpot design, but was concerned about the weight. Rightly so apparently! "11.3kg approx". Lolz.
Might get me some Minilight reps, flame me yo.

They literally wouldn't know what they were unless they were OEM
and even then would hate you if they weren't OEM for your exact model

They literally wouldn't know what they were unless they were OEM and even then would hate you if they weren't OEM for your exact model Funny you should say that. I went to my local area OC pub meeting for the first time last week. One guy asked me what my RPF1s were. They were curious but disapproving in regards to the carbon rear lip, and got completely confused as to why I'd upgraded the anti-roll bars.

Haha, I'd love for someone like HoodedReaper to turn up to an OC meet. They'd all die.
