For sale: 1999 Mazda MX5 1800 in British Racing Green (UK model – originally an “SE” Special Edition) – V760 PKJ - £950 or nearest offer **NOW SOLD**
Owned by me since 2002. Never crashed. Toad Ai606 Cat1 Alarm (with remote central locking, switchable interior sensors, etc)
Mileage: 135,119 (increasing by ~35 miles per day)
MOT: Valid until 23rd October
Wheels: Superlight 16” OZ Superleggera wheels. Professionally refurbished in 2015. Since then have suffered one small scratch on ONE wheel from a kerb.
Tyres: Toyo Proxes T1R. 205/45/R16. Not much tread left.
Suspension: KYB AGX 4-way adjustable shocks, with Flyin’ Miata lowering springs.
Engine: K&N Typhoon induction kit. Cambelt & waterpump change done in 2014. *NOTE - Engine has a small oil leak* – I am not sure of the source of the leak, and its not enough to drip on the floor – it just means checking the level regularly and topping up every couple of months. I give the car an oil and filter change every 6 months. IL Motorsports gas-struts *NOTE – these have started to fail so cannot be relied upon to keep bonnet up for any length of time*.
Exhaust: Flyin’ Miata 2.25 Stainless Steel Exhaust (sports cat, midpipe & rear silencer). Since moving to this exhaust I have passed all MOT emissions tests (my previous exhaust failed the test) although it will need to be fully warmed up. Sounds nice and throaty.
Roof: Black Mohair roof in as-new condition. Fitted by Jack Smith trimmers of Swansea, but for the past 3 years I have had a hardtop on permanently. Heated glass rear screen.
Seats: Mk2.5 fixed headrest heated leather seats. If you are handy with electrics you could wire in the heated elements (not currently wired-in)
ICE: Pioneer DEH-9300SD headunit with CD, SD-Card & USB inputs. MX5parts stubby aerial (replaced standard Mk2 fixed aerial)
General interior: Old tan carpet was replaced with black carpets a few years back. However, seller had cut away the carpet level with the passenger side centre console, so it doesn’t look great from that side. It could be tidied up relatively simply. Cigarette lighted replaced with a Honda S2000 start button – this has started working intermittently in recent years, but the car starts as normal with the key so ive never bothered taking the dash apart again and fixing it. Currently no rear windblocker as I had aftermarket rollbars (now removed) – 2nd hand Mk2 windblockers can be bought on ebay for ~£25. Original SE seats have long gone, but Nardi wood steering wheel/gearknob/handbrake cover remain. Aftermarket white dials, with IL Motorsport chrome rings. IL Motorsport chrome vent rings. Mk2 digital clock/half-cubby replaced with full size cubby box (fits a large mobile phone)
Bodywork: Generally very good for its age – regularly washed & polished. Rusted sills/rear arches were done professionally in 2015. Passenger side still rust-free, but some bubbling on drivers side has returned. Spot of rust on rear bootlid. Paint chip on aluminium bonnet (size of 5p piece) at front edge. Clear indicators, repeaters and rear brake light.
Windscreen: replaced in 2015
Any inspection welcome, but note that I will only have insurance on this car until 21st March. If you want to test drive on the public road, you will need to bring proof that you have insurance for this particular car (temporary cover from your insurance company).
The above is accurate to the best of my knowledge/memory - PM with any questions etc
Car is located in Bracknell, Berkshire. No Part Exchange.
