Seriously, check timing. Don’t leave it any longer. It honestly takes about 10 seconds to wire up the timing gun and it takes 5 seconds to check it. Another 30 seconds if you have to change it....
The pinking is the giveaway.

Wannabe, that's so sad - losing a near relation in tragic circumstances last year knocked me sideways so my heartfelt condolences. Just bear in mind the advice I was given by a PTSD expert - "coping is alright until you don't cope" i.e seek help sooner rather than later, even though you may not feel the need right now. Best,Pewe

Just bear in mind the advice I was given by a PTSD expert - "coping is alright until you don't cope" i.e seek help sooner rather than later, even though you may not feel the need right now. Best,Pewe I hear you on that, Pewe - we're going to sign up to the counselling on offer, on the basis that it's the NHS and it will take months to actually get seen, so by that point we will hopefully have processed our emotions a bit more than we currently have, and therefore will be able to get more benefit out of it. I did actually take the 5 out today for a half hour potter to the local shops and back, the first time in a couple of months since things happened. Needed jump starting and cranking for a while, but seemed to be alright. Pulling away felt like it was dragging the rear canoe on the floor until the handbrake unstuck haha. I even attempted to get the timing checked but I couldn't get the blue power source thing in the engine bay to work, and I'm not sure I was trying the correct bolt on the alternator for a different positive feed?? The timing torch definitely worked on the missus' car so I will have to just use a jump lead from the boot/battery to get a power feed to the front at this rate.
