Anyone ever heard of this being done before? I know the ARC chamber is a volatile topic, but I've read minor gains can be had. Anyway, I'v a Randall intake currently, picked up an ARC chamber for a steal so thought it's worth a punt. Always sell it on if it's no use, even if it's just engine dressing, I suppose it's not all bad. It doesn't have the ARC sticker anymore so I'll obviously be +5bhp down from the get go

The ARCs are supposed to be good. Skuzzle rates them.

If you've already done the Randall intake, you've probably had the biggest gain. Having said that the ARC chamber is nice JDM bling (if nothing else) and it certainly won't harm the results. The only problem with the ARC chambers is that you commit yourself to a life of polishing. I never had my setup tested, but I'm pretty sure it delivered some gains.

Thanks guys, @horney yes had read about skuzzles recomendations, part of the reason I took a punt. @whislter, this one comes with free dents so I think it'll be in-keeping with the rest of the car I'll update in here once it's on in case someone else thinks about it.

It should be a fairly good combo, although people say the arc chamber works best with the arc airbox, which can then be fed from a Randall style hole in the skuttle

scottydugg, ARC magic chambers are magic, but would've been even more magic if they fitted without fouling/rubbing or having to be dented to fit.

ARC arrived yesterday, even with the dents it looks the part.
Waiting on some clips to arrive before I test fit, hopefully won't take much to match up with the Randall setup.

Could someone please explain how it improves performance, looks like a fat empty space before the throttle?

Something to do with how it affects the airflow. I'm sure Nutz would have had a write up before all the threads disappeared but I will have a look at what the American forums have

Could someone please explain how it improves performance, looks like a fat empty space before the throttle? The logo and brand statement tell you everything you need to know. "The ARC Magic is wonders assembled project. They present comfortable and unknown car life with ARC magic power." #Arcmagic

Well, there you have it, 30 years building cars, and my cynical quest for a logical explanation to a claimed performance gain is quashed by a lucid explanation...I am truly humbled... The explanation is in the logo, it’s “magic”

18th March 2006, 14:25 I have fitted both versions. I haven't paid anywhere near the full price for these. 1.6 version; this does make an appreciable difference to mid range torque. You get a smoother throttle response, whic is all that the manufacturer claims. The manufacturer claims the larger resonance chamber included in this helps to counteract the loss of the primary resonance chamber, which results in loss of bottom end. Not sure about this reasoning, but the chamber has a substantially bigger volume than the stock part. The fit of this was fair. I would say its very worthwhile fitting this to the 1.6. This particular engine, with 120k miles, as it appears, dyno'd at 127hp, which is pretty good for that sort of mileage. No internal mods or refurbishment. 1.8 version: this is more similar in shape to the stock pipe. Its is maybe only 30% bigger in volume. As expected, fitting it has less of a profound difference to the driveability of the car (though makes the HKS intake roar). It needs a bit of beating to stop it rattling against the hood, plus you have to relocated the hood prop. Overall, there is less of a case to fit the 1.8, though it does have some benefit. Both parts are well finished, with respect to the welds etc.
