Hello
Just wondering whether wishbones are compatible across mk1-2.5. Is it possible to use mk2/2.5 wishbones on a mk1?

Hello Just wondering whether wishbones are compatible across mk1-2.5. Is it possible to use mk2/2.5 wishbones on a mk1? *believe* that the lower (front & rear) have a diferent mount bracket for the anti-roll bar droplink but otherwise interchangeable Rich.

MartinY is the man for this but from memory nd knowing there is info out there on Google, the way the steering rack attaches is different too

on wishbones??? mk1 - mk2 rack mounts on the subframes are diferent, 2 straps on mk1 & a strap (passanger side) with through-bolts in bushings for the pinion / drivers side on mk2 & 2.5 also believe that mk2 subframe geometry is sllightly diferent? Rich.

Sorry, wasn't thinking straight. My mind pictures wishbones and subframe together
Wishbones on their own, as you say only difference of note is the drop link attachment
Also of course earlier mk1 subframes won't have the fixings for chassis braces

Turns out I'm not actually the man for this. But as already mentioned, the Mk.2 wishbones have different ARB droplink mounts from Mk.1 because of the different style of droplink.

Wasn't there a difference in the taper of the front upper arm's balljoint between NA/NB

If I remember rightly the NB ball joint taper is slightly longer meaning the split pin hole doesn't line up. You can either shim the nut with a flat washer or use a nyloc instead of the castellated nut and split pin.
