It'll be a straight swap mechanically. You may find that the starter will only mount via 2 bolts instead of 3, but that may be just if you are using a mk1 starter instead of a mk2. Reverse / Neutral wiring may have different connectors, again but may just be a mk1 thing.
5 speed box is a much nicer 'feeling' box than the 6 speed - or my one anyway...

Thanks for the link ZED, looks like it’s a straight swap on a 1.8 MK2.5? Ignoring diff ratios etc. Yup. Oh. Since my last post in this thread i exploded a 6spd on track. Fast track (long straights with vmax of ca 220kmh in my car) and a very hot day. Not running the full 334whp due to temperature, but rather 300whp or so.
