Insurance update... Been speaking to various specialist companies. I have sent them many photos of the build, a full list of all mods, plus very estimated build costs. Nicola came back to me and said their underwriters were impressed and confirmed a "£20k Agreed Valuation policy" should be totally fine. I probably do 5-7k miles per year as I dont commute or anything. Thats mainly weekend trips out for fun. Awaiting quotes...

Looks good - will be very interested to see how you find it on the road in practice...
Looking at how much clearance between your butterfly brace and the exhaust, I reckon you may need to do some fettling - I reckon it will touch under load / bumps...
I wish my chassis was as clean as that though!

Yeah I thought the same although it may be the angle of the photo, which doesn't take into account the depth between them. I will certainly look at it.

agreed on the brace. I think a little time with a grinder is warranted. Don't want to push that brace up into the shiney exhaust !

plus very estimated build costs. Is that because you might cry if you work it out accurately lol Cool that they are fine with a realistic value - may the gods be kind and make sure you never need to test their quality during any sort of claim!

Any sane person would have bought a tidy Cayman or something and been done with it Oh well. Keep telling ourselves we just like our quirky little old cars right

Well yeah. People with no money will hate you for looking like a rich canoe. People with proper money like bankers will look down on you for owning the housewife budget model and not a "proper" hedge seeking fat rear canoe 911. Can't win either way haha Speaking to Need2Insure after a faff with Brentacre...
Update...
I'm going with either: Need2Insure or Sky for now. So that's that sorted (for less than Esure charged me for a 1.8)

New update from this guy... now with apparently 253bhp & 305nm (225 ft/lb). Not bad, but a lot of cash for that result.

That was my thinking on the Jag setup, too much money for the same result you could get from a £1500 turbo setup. Nicely designed kit but just not enough power for the money. I've heard some of them are getting more power with a few tweaks, about 270 which is closer ... I think I'd want over 300 for that kind of money though

I saw that the Rocketeer conversions are now going to be sold as completed cars only, with no more kits available, so I'll be interested to see what they are pricing at. Could be useful in terms of insurance valuations if nothing else!
