Hmm. I recognise those photos of mangled tabs which have snapped off the friction cones - they're my photos.
I wonder what repair they do to them. Weld the broken friction cone into the case, maybe. Don't know if that's possible.
I asked Tochigi Fuji (via GKN Driveline who own them) if they would supply new friction cones as spare parts and they said no, not possible.

Actually, their repair "for rally cross" might just mean they weld up the core so it's not a LSD any more, just locked up.

£88.00 dont buy much............ Rich. Yeah, if you strip it down, pick out the broken tabs and then set it back up, you can't do much more to make the diff functional again and still only charge £88. Especially when the manufacturer won't sell replacement friction cones. They have to be welding them up, surely.

I'd say that for £88 they don't do any gear mesh etc., maybe just fettling the 'lsd' bit? Rich. Rich.

Found this video:
Comments mention new cone plates..maybe some laser cut plates + jig for the hydraulic press? Still almost too cheap at 88 for an lsd center rebuild. I doubt that the price includes setup of the pumpkin as well.

The part they're filing and test fitting in the first 30 seconds (before seeming to press it into place with that big piece of round steel bar) appears to be a new friction cone. They also put one in the other side in the first two seconds and drop the sun gear on top but it's over in a flash so you don't get to see much.
It looks like they have come up with a replacement friction cone part, possible better designed with an inner ring which strengthens the four locating tabs. In which case fair play to them.
<edit> Okay, froze the vid at 1 second, with the caption still on the screen, and there are clearly 2 new taper rings/friction cones/whatever on the bench. One is between the two sun gears and the other to the right of the crown and pinion gears. The design is conventional *except* for a bigger radius where each of the 4 tabs meets the ring, which might be crucial in reducing stress there.

as I've recently dismantled a Fugi diff, it would be rude not to add photo's to show the problem. part dismantled, the 'lsd' is still complete but free from the final-drive & housing. the lsd dismantled. the offending 'cones' & their tabs - well, 5 1/2 of 8 were found, some of them had been through the gear-mesh judging by their shape & condition Rich.

[derail] What final drive ratio is your Fuji diff? Small thing but it's bugging me.
My Fuji had 40 teeth on the crown wheel and 11 on the pinion. 40/11 = 3.636. So it was a 3.6. My torsen has 41 and 10 = 4.1.
That one has 42 teeth on its crown wheel. Doesn't seems to divide to neatly make any of the usually quoted ratios, so I'm curious.

I don't think that is my 4.778:1 Kia Sportage crownwheel & pinion BUT I did have them on the bench to check measurements................

Actually, I take that back - it looks like 41 after all. Sorry. I tried counting several times but I think I got confused between teeth and gaps on the right hand side of the photo.
