As title says.
My car makes 408nm at the wheels. On a hot day recently my current organic clutch slipped with the heat. It has never slipped before.
This leads me to believe that I need a ceramic compound. From what I can fint its either act extreme or multiplates that have the combination of torque capabilities and ceramic plate.
The skuzzle clutch promises much, it is curiously alike the bofi racing one, but it has one organic side and I'm not sure it can handle extreme heat.
Am I missing any options?

The skuzzle/bofi clutches also look very similar to the Helix hybrid clutch that Performance5 used to sell - from what I remember when I bought it from Phil he didn't say it was rated to that much power, although I never got it to slip. I have one in the shed somewhere if you wanted to give it a try! When I swapped engines / to a 6 speed etc I put the FM Stage 2 in to make sure it would cope with the power - in theory it's rated to 353ft lb or 480Nm according to them (but not sure if thats atw or atf). It's certainly heavier than stock and judders a bit from low speed pickup. I don't think many people on miataturbo have got them to slip though with close to the rated torque. I have heard that swapping to the unsprung twin plates are harder on the drivetrain than standard, so you may be more likely to break gearboxes with it...

My organic slipped at less than half that torque.

Helix are easy to talk to & knowlegeable, a phonecall (or email) should get some good answers about their product's & capabilities helixautosport.com/catalogues.htmlI've recently ordered (hopefully!) some centre-plates from them & have previously used their products in rallycars as to unsprung vs sprung centres, theres an ammount of damping with the sprung but most people have rubber-mounted diff's and this will probably absorb most of this? (like having a 300hp+ turbo engine is'nt causing shock to the driveline already? ) also re. multiplates, 949racing in the US sell a kit of flywheel & multiplate clutch & claim 440 ft-lbs for the Kevlar/Carbon discs but sensible manners supermiata.com/miata-twin-disc-clutch.aspx (link for example) Sorta Rich. (going multiplate for the hell of it & the instant hookup )

The 949 is hugely expensive when in europe. I'm currently looking at the act extreme with sprung 6-p ceramic. The FM2 is great, but all organics will be heat sensitive. Although when my current one slipped, it was really, really hot and the poor thing must have been >100deg c

The 949 is hugely expensive when in europe. same in the UK..... but, theres options available in UK & Europe, can get the cost's down a good ammount I'm building a 184mm multiplate for my car, not for the torque capabilities but rotational mass ebay for the pressureplate assembly, get new centre-plates (I ordered from Helix) and either get a flywheel to suit or use an adapter (see my recent post mighty5s.com/post/40714 ) the organic 184mm multiplate can be good for more torque than you've got (at cost of pedal pressure?) and theres various options you can build from many manufacturers can get 200mm versions aswell (modify your flywheel??) Rich.

Thinking about it - are you sure that you are thinking about the 'right' heat issue?
My limited knowledge is that it's clutch slip that causes the heat that kills them v quickly, so if something else was causing it to slip (adjustment / master cylinder / slave etc) that may be what's caused the heat issues. Bits of the US tend to be a lot hotter than Europe and they don't seem to run into ambient temp clutch issues..
I had problems with mine a long time a long time ago where the pedal went weird on track - it was either a failing slave cylinder or fluid issues and sorted itself out with a bit of TLC...

I believe so. It worked perfectly the first stints and slipped at the fourth stint or so. I then let the car cool down and it started biting again. Not too bad heat marks on the pressure plate and flywheel.
It was the hottest track day I have ever been to. 34c in the shadow. Full sun. So I bet the clutch held something like 45-50deg c without the added engine and transmission heat.
But yeah, a tougher organic might work.

In the end it came down to price and I went with a cc stage 4. Hopefully it will handle what I throw at it.
It will also be interesting to compare the pressure plates, as cc is allegedly the supplier of the FM clutches.
