Hi guys,
Don't know if anyone can advise ? My Eunos has developed a high pitch whistle which stops when I put the clutch pedal down.
A friend who has a garage usually does any mechanical work for me, I just search around & buy the bits. I don't really want to be buying stuff that I don't need too, but I do try and get the bits he needs so he can do any work in one hit. Thing is, I don't know if it's a problem with the actual Clutch, Clutch Master Slave Cylinder, Clutch Release Bearing, whether there is enough oil in the gear box or not etc etc
It could be all of the above or none of the above.
Any pointers would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

I think that's the clutch release bearing, IIRC.
The missus' (non-MX5) car has done that for years, so it's not immediately terminal, lol.

Cheers Wannabe, Off down to Devon at the end of the month & Cornwall the end of August, so didn't really want to have to spend out on it yet if possible. I'm hoping it should be ok until early September.

It could be the slave piston 'whistling' where it contacts the release arm, scoosh some wd40 on it. Mine did something similar, if that doesn't fix it it's probably what wannabe said.

I think that's the clutch release bearing, IIRC. or the 'spiggot' bearing? if theres noise with the engine running & car in neutral (clutch 'up') then could be the release bearing, if the noise is there when the car is in gear / clutch depressed then could be the 'spiggot' bearing OR the release bearing both are cheap to buy BUT require the gearbox (or engine) to be removed to access - usually a good excuse to replace the clutch while you are in there? OR theres the 'easy-access' method It could be the slave piston 'whistling' where it contacts the release arm what? Rich.

Mazda service journel suggests a blob of heavy grease on the end of the slave cylinder rod in the cup on the end of the actuating arm. It works for me !!! If the noise goes away on light pedal pressure it is likely that grease will fix it. I use a squirt of motorbike chain lube every few months. Thrust races usually make noise under load.
