Most places will let you spectate. Or why not go all out an Marshall an event and see everything up close! Regarding damaging the car...you'll only hit some cones. My last event I went sideways into a cone, no damage. And front end directly into a cone, again no damage. First event being turbo charged so a bit more power to control! Might be a bit more wear on your tyres, but that's about it really As long as hitting cones doesn't leave orange marks everywhere... I have marshalled on a couple of historic rally events - is good to see properly old cars being driven hard I'll try to get to an Autosolo to see what it's about!

I had some driver training with a chap called gary marsh. if it is track driving your are after then i thoroughly recommend him. he does group days , it cost around £400 pp that included access to the trackday at the same venue. to give you an idea I compete oin teh great western sprint. this is 1.75 laps of castle combe. first two years i did it were either side of the training. I was 12 seconds faster the second time thanks to gary's training. he has an awful website, just use it to get in touch with him aneed4speed.co.uk/

if you are worried about a bit of cone rash then you have to be very aware that track driving can be very hard on the car and unlike autosolo because of the speeds involved if something does go wrong you can do serious damage. Another great way to start is the Gurston Down hillclimb school, safe, enjoyable and great value www.gurstondown.org/gurston-down-hill-climb-school/

There's already a thread started by Dweenimus for Gurston. mighty5s.com/thread/3383/gurston-hill-climb-school-juneHe's going in June, and I'm hoping to go in May with three others. Just waiting to check I haven't left it too late.
