Had an impact screwdriver for years, but not used it since I stopped playing with motorbikes. Good tool

Small update time, we've not been able to do much or go far lately for obvious reasons, so haven't got many new photos of the car. I did take it for a quick drive at the start of lockdown 2.0 however when it was clean so thought it would be rude not to get a photo; Another little upgrade i've sorted and fitted is some CNC machined Delrin door bushes, to replace the old standard ones; As can be seen here, the old standard ones were a bit soft so for only £25 ish, it makes sense to do these as people seem very positive that they DO make a difference. These were a bit of a job to remove, but got there in the end with plenty WD40, a small selection of tools and some effort; Cleaned and polished the area but was still left with an outline, which made fitting very simple; Fitted.......... usual story, tightened up the fixings so there was just the smallest bit of give and then closed and opened the door three times to nudge them into the corect place then tightened!

I've never written out a spec list for the car, listing all the things that have been fitted so just been through the history folder and put it all in one place. In a blatant copy of Batou's idea on his project thread, i've also added this near the top of the first post on the first page ENGINE AND EXHAUST;

I've got a couple of upgrade engine bay bits planned for the car and the first to arrive was the JDM ARC Chamber from scottydugg .... big thanks to Scott for packaging it so well with fast delivery and including the red hoses and clips for me, which saved the hassle buying more hoses when I already know these fit It's a bit 50/50 I know if these actually make a key difference but if nothing else, they look very cool . Seriously though, i was reading a thread on 'Mazda Menders' from back in 2014 where Skuzzle Motorsport had dyno tested one of these and reported a small increase in mid range torque, albeit no HP increase. BUT! The Jackson Racing kit had also gained torque but dropped HP making the ARC the better of the two. Anyway, i've taken some time to give it a good buff up and it's come up really well, all done by hand but Autosol worked wonders and I finished it off with some Autobrite Metal Worx, a new one I'd bought to try a few weeks ago and also gave good results. I think it's very hard to beat Autosol though! Always satisfying when you see this; Soapy hot water sorted these out a treat; .... and finally, done and ready for fitting! I could go further with it but my engine bay is clean, not immaculate so i think this will look just right. It doesn't need to be like a mirror!

Love your thread suggs84 ! Is it an easy job to fit the replacement washer jets? One of mine is droopy so was thinking of replacing it.

Love your thread suggs84 ! Is it an easy job to fit the replacement washer jets? One of mine is droopy so was thinking of replacing it. Thanks for the kind words! I am no mechanic so if i can do it, anyone can! The washer jets were very quick and easy to do, you just take off the little hoses from the underside of the bonnet, then pop the old ones out. To be honest, i was a bit brutal with my original washer jets and just snapped them off using pliers as I knew they wouldn't go back on. The Ford ones just snap back into the standard positions and then connect the hoses back up to allow the washer fluid to go through. Simples, plus a massive improvement for little money! Let us know your thoughts on whether the door bushes have made a difference when driving! The doors now have a much more solid feel to them when opening and closing, yet I haven't noticed any negative issues when driving i.e. rattles or squeaks. So far so good!

I mentioned above that I now have the ARC Intake Chamber to fit, well the other parts I was waiting for have now landed so yesterday was lockdown car parts day! The original plan was to fit the ARC whilst still keeping the original air box with the K&N panel filter, however the more I looked at a photo of my engine bay and compared it to the photo of Scott's car with the ARC fitted, I just wasn't convinced it would work due to the angles and besides, ARC did their own air box to fit to the chamber if that's the way the buyer wanted to go. So it didn't look good - with that in mind, I decided to go for this; It's the Blitz SUS induction kit, same as the one fitted to batou 's S-Special (thanks again for the info!) but being the 1.8 version for the NA8C, was more complicated to fit with more fittings. More on that later. This one massively appealed due to the quality and the fact it had a heat shield. Just a shame about the price . Anyway, as we can see here, the instructions were very useful, literally only had three small diagrams for help from two full sides of A4; ..... and this is what we started with; The ARC Chamber went on really easily, which I was confident it would as I knew it had already come off a 1.8 NA8C like mine, plus in addition to this what also made it so simple was that scottydugg included the red hoses which of course slipped straight on. The only thing we did was cut a small section off the left silicone hose, to shorten the length and pull the chamber back from hitting the radiator cap. I'd purchased a Jass Performance manifold heat shield as well, so the rusty old one came off and was replaced with this while there was lots of room and clearance. The Blitz was another story, it took us ages to get it just right, seemingly endlessly taking it all apart, changing the angles of the brackets, moving it up, moving it down, even more stressful as it went dark - in the end, the source of our issue was the strut brace. Gutted! It had to come off to make the extra bit of room, but the induction kit was more important to me than the strut brace plus with some light modification, I am sure I can get it back on the car This is how the engine bay is now looking after a wipe round and quick buff this morning; I also bought these recently so that's another 'mod' ....... i bought them as Rays takes me right back to old skool Gran Turismo!

It certainly cleans up very nicely (I hadn't realised it was so dirty!), fit looks good, what's your thoughts on it now it's fitted?

It certainly cleans up very nicely (I hadn't realised it was so dirty!), fit looks good, what's your thoughts on it now it's fitted? I get that! As if you wiped your hand across it, it wasn't dirty..... but i thought i'd dig into it with the Autosol and as standard with metal like this, the dirt soon started appearing The fit is great, can easily see it's tailor made for the car - to be honest, fitting the ARC was a couple of minutes in comparison to the induction kit as mentioned, that is what needed the tinkering! When you put your ear to the chamber with the car on idle and you can almost hear the air lightly wooshing around which sounds equally odd and very cool! Same with the Blitz, put your ear near that and it sounds like a low level bass speaker, its an weird thing to describe! Overall, we're not talking 50bhp gains but the increased air flow can only be good for responsiveness but the sound tho........... THE SOUND! Bit better than the panel filter

Looks pretty damn tidy now, need some videos see what that sounds like though for comparison... I'm still shocked at the cost of the Bliz intake, glad I didn't have to pay that (sorry), I was lucky enough that mine came with the car (infact it was imported with it). The sound adds 50hp to the butt dyno, but its probably more like 2 actual hp

I checked when i bought it and the NA6C version you have is around £35 cheaper than my NA8C version but it's still a whopping price compared to say the Pipercross kit. For me though, they appear miles apart in quality in finish. I say appear as only seen the Pipercross kit that is around £90 in photos but the Blitz does look more posh!

I've not driven the car again since the shiney bits went on, what with lockdown and all that, so have been doing some more cleaning so at least it looks nice on the drive. That said, cannot wait to engage VTEC again...... oh wait sorry, it's not a Honda..... but the sound is now very cool! Anyway, i've ordered a custom size Blitz decal for the cone and fitted it today, but i'm not 100% sold! I like the idea of it, but does it look a bit much? Or does it look ok? Close up of the cone, it was my choice to have it made 10cm x 2.5cm but uumm...... All cleaned and sitting pretty, it's a great 10 feet car..... from this distance, it looks mint, close up, you start to notice 26 year old car issues and blemishes! But I love it, the car defo has character. If this was the USA, we'd call it patina
