My winter project is to refresh my suspension bushes in my Mk2, the car is only used for Hillclimb / Sprints and driving to and from events so not worries about general road comfort. I currently suffer from a few knocks and bangs at the moment when cornering hard and want to replace the original 22 year old items.
What has everyone else used and can recommend on experience?
My short-list, today, is Super-Pro or the uprated IL Motorsport Rubber bushes avaialable from MX5 Parts.

I've a personal hatred of any polybushing material, unlike oem rubber the aftermarket 'poly' has little qc & conformity of 'mix' so can have varied hardness if I was buying rubber it would be oem Mazda for the reasons above AND (in my experience with rallycars) poly has a short lifespan - not great with the high pricing associated with the Mx5 scene subject of poly & rallycars, I've recently replaced poly with oem Fomoco rubber bushings in a mk1 Escort '4 link' setup as the poly (unknown yellow make) had degraded or dried out & was splitting / cracking & falling apart - on a newly built car! as to my 5, I'm making pom / delrin bushings for evrything, iirc, hillclimb road / road modified class rules forbid metal joints / bushings so spherical / rosejoints are out unfortunately downside with pom is cost, material for a single bush costs ~£5 + stainless steel to make the inner sleeve, obviously if I was buying in bulk this would drop BUT theres also machining time to be considered.... Rich.

I recently replaced all my bushes to the IL Motorsports ones and they made a massive improvement with the bum dyno. Pita to fit over poly bushes though. My car is rarely used, and when it is it's for track, autosolo and fun drives

I agree with Zed on this one. Had poly bushes in my TVR & they turned to cheese after a season, initially very unforgiving/then ok/then worn out & banging.....
On a different subject nookey- what tyres are you running next season?

To add some balance, I've had Superpro on my 5 for the past 12 or so years and they are still fine.
Phil @ P5 used to say that the Superpro ones were the only 'good' poly bushes for the '5 - the flo-flex / powerflex / polybush kits were all too hard / poor quality and didn't last.

Hi Howard, I'm going to order some Extreme VR2 W3's for next year, I know they'll probably be only legal for one season but want to give them a go and improve my PB.

Thanks everyone for your input, and having searched a bit nore online it seems that most would agree with Jon and recommend Super Pro bushes but the other, cheaper options, all come with limitaitons.

Where about are you, nookey? Perhaps someone local(ish) with polybushes might be able to give you a ride

Hi, My Eunos has a full set of IL motorsport bushes and diff void bushs as well. Running on brand new OEM Bilsteins and springs. extended lower ball joints. I can say it is a nice set up for me which is spirited B roads with the odd bit of sprinting, I have missed out on hillclimbs this year. It all feels nice and taught, I can feel the PS3's sqirm about with this set up but with the NS2R set it feels like its on rails.

Dickie, did you have a chance to drive the car with the same set up, but old standard bushes? Mine is an AutoSolo car on original bushes, which look ok, and I am not sure whether it is worth the time and money to replace them, or what with. (99 mk2)

Hi Jon, do you have to re-grease every year or is it fit and forget with Superpro?

I've had the full superpro running gear kit fitted since 2018 and was pleasantly surprised by the only minor increase in NVH. They sharpened the car up nicely though.
I've had no issues with them and not re-greased them after quite a lot of track driving.... although I do have an unidentified knock now!
