Obviously, I had this:
Poured money into it over last winter, ended up with ITBs, did many trackdays over the years, 3 in the 2 and a bit months it was on the road this year, and then a guy I follow on Instagram (a friend of a friend) posted his S2000 for sale...
Anyone who knows me knows my love for Hondas, and the fact I had an EG a few years back - mainly because an S2000 wasn't really a viable option at the time - and so when this came up, I jumped at it. Within a few days of it being posted, i'd met up with the guy and agreed a price to buy it, that just left selling the Mazda to provide storage space for it. Within 24 hours of putting the Mazda up for sale (for far, far, far too cheap), it'd gone. I went to meet the guy with the S2000, pleasantries were exchanged, and I set off home with VTEC once again (this time much tidier and quicker).
In all honesty, I have very few plans for the car - selling the Mazda and coming to the realisation of just how much i'd sunk into it and how little I got in return kinda left a sore point, plus, this has all the good stuff already - it'll be a case of drive it and maintain it. The few plans I do have are to fit a baffled sump, get all of the bushes that need replacing done (it's a common thing for the adjustment bolts to seize in them, and that means the alignment can't be changed) and perhaps a new soft top. Other than that, just enjoy it.
Spec:
K&N FIPK intake
J's Racing 70RS dual exhaust
J's Racing ECU
DMS decat pipe (which i've removed in a bid to try and quieten the exhaust a bit, it didn't work...)
EGR and airpump delete
17” x 8j front/9j rear Enkei PF01 - 225/245 AD08R.
MeisterR Zeta R coilovers
Spoon monoblock front calipers & DS2500s
HEL stainless braided lines
Custom brake cooling ducts all round with fresh ATE TYP200 fluid
Facelift front bumper with headlight washers deleted
Carbon OEM style spoiler
Flybikeslee front splitter & side strakes
Buddy Club P1 limited edition red & black fixed bucket seats on Buddy Club super-low rails
Personal Neo Grinta 330mm suede wheel
Spoon wide angle rear view mirror glass
The previous owner was meticulous with servicing (oil changes every 3000 miles etc) and there's a stack of paperwork dating back as far as the original order sheet from Honda.
The only engine shot I have is one i've stolen from the previous owner, but i'm sure he won't mind.
First trackday is coming up soon, and i'm both anxious and excited, everyone knows the reputation S2000s have for being snappy, and they have very little lock, so I can see why they're such rear canoeholes to catch, but hopefully it'll all go well, and i'll be able to go fast and have lots of fun...
