I don't think I need to be leaving a digital trail of evidence. We can guess it... "sufficient" as per Rolls Royce Slightly less comfort

Nice Must have been interesting dealing with all the torque from low revs in winter without traction control!

There was a setting on the gearbox for cold weather, basically you pulled away in 2nd. The cars used to shrink around you, you could really hustle them down the lanes. Had ABS and I think traction control too.

What did they weigh? 3 tons or something?

Two and a half. When we first turbocharged the Bentley there was that much torque the wheels would turn inside the tyres, had to re design the tyre bead and wheel rims.

Pretty cool. I've had so many types of car. These days of course I like them tiny, light and basic. Although I have tried all sorts of stuff over the years. I actually had a few barges going back, here and there: V12 XJS, XJR, CLS merc, W8 passat, etc. Clearly they are all hopeless in the corners yet quite handy for motorway trips. The insulated quiet bubble and a waft of effortless shove is handy at night when you have a long way to go and are shattered. Mind you, I've owned many multiples more of the above in the form of tiny, noisy, daft little scamps too. Stuff like little 106 GTi etc... much more fun!

at the wheels/tyres issue! W8 Passat is up there with W12 Phaeton and Renault Avantime on my 'unicorn cars that are impossibly difficult and expensive to maintain but I still want them' list lol Today, I booked mine in for the MOT, an oil change, and to get the Rack changed over. I'll order brake discs 'just in case' mine aren't saveable, as I'm sure I'll use them soon enough even if the current ones are fine - the last set of front discs lasted 8 months of gentle driving with the current pads haha

I try to forget about the W8. That cost me more to fix than all my other cars added up by multiples. On a 40k something mile mint example. If it wasn't for my R32 and a couple of S3 I'd assume VAG were an utter pile of incompetant prarrie canoe.

Well nothing as interesting as above ... took the left eye ball vent out to fix the droopiness. Done. Now only have the far right to do

How are you fixing it? I out electrical tape around the ball on mine. Worked but wasn't great aesthetically
