Refitted rear bumper so pretty much done tinkering for the winter, just need to wash off 5 months of garage dust and polish off some of the scuffs from my denim overalls I wore while working on it over winter (its not bad, just the front and only a few marring marks before I taped up all the nice paintwork and coverered it ). Dat a$$ tho. Did the chassis with Lanoguard whilst I had to change the wheels. Used their kit with the sprayer & cavity tube. Very easy to just spray on & the cavity tube is brilliant for getting into the sills, boxes & front chassis legs, used the grease on the suspension bolts. I hope the smell goes away as it flipping stinks. Smells like it’s been parked in a sheep shed. Oh god, I still don't understand why this stuff gains traction when there are better products out there that don't make your car (and garage) smell like a dead sheeps stomach lining but its been well marketed on instagram etc for some time I guess. Not saying it doesn't work but urgh, no thanks. I have heard a few people mention that it can attract rodents so if you car is parked need farmland then keep an eye out for any chewed wires. I've used Bilt Hamber Dynax-UC spray on mine, its clear so leaves a matt finish, dries well, isn't sticky and you can clean it off with parts cleaner pretty easy (or degreaser with more work) so easy to perodically recoat or add when you change parts etc. In the box/sill/cavities I've used Dynax S50 which has that 3d spray nozzle on a long tube. They have done scientifc long term salt spray tests (theres a pdf from Herts uni somewhere) to back up their products. Tape up the drain holes and leave overnight to soak in everywhere, smell is not great but only lasts an hour or two and doesn't smell like rotten haggis to start with either lol.

lanolin is sheeps wool oil, right ? I never knew that! Makes one wonder how they harvest/collect the stuff, is it a cottage industry somewhere in the Welsh hills…

Depends on what scale, lanolin is heavily used in one of the worst industries out there... the "personal/beauty care" product sector, we know how much of a crap they tend give about welfare, as long their slop makes you look 10 years younger thats all that matters

Pulled my rear bumper off my NC yesterday, pleasantly surprised, none of the expected corrosion other than a bit of rust between the bumper beam and body. Rear valance was sound. A quick coat of Aldi’s finest black metal paint and a coat of waxoyl fixed it.

A quick coat of Aldi’s finest black metal paint and a coat of waxoyl fixed it. It's a job I keep meaning to do, having sorted the front out a couple of years ago and finding many crusty components.

Someone was breaking a Mk1 and I enquired about some parts, including the high-level brake light unit in the boot. Mine hasn't ever worked to my knowledge. I thought it was some complicated LED thing that had gone wrong and was all set to offer him ca$h mon£y$ for it, and he sent me a photo showing it basically just being a bit of red plastic with a bulb holder in it. So I went out to the garage to see what mine was like. It's a simple bulb holder in red plastic. So I thought the bulb must have been blown all this time, and changed it. Nothing.
So I traced the wires back along the boot door to where they meet the loom inside the rear panel, and the wires going to the high-level brake light were cut off, like it'd been caught in the boot closing or snagged on something and snapped. I stripped the wires back and reconnected them....still nothing happened. So I got the multimeter out, and this is where it gets confusing. Connecting the green and black wires where they come out of the loom, there's continuity (i.e. connected circuit) even when I'm not pressing the brake pedal, ignition off. So connecting them to the bulb should mean the light is always on? Only it isn't. The main left and right brake lights only come on when I press the brake pedal, and according to the wiring diagram they're all connected to the same circuit from the stop switch.
What I have done to get confused by simple electrics this time?

Turbo Car Pre-MOT Sorting Day..
Took it to a friends garage which has a car lift they lease out.. so I did all this myself XD
Coolant Flushed (Red OAT Goodness) Gearbox BOFI/FM mix (Redline LWSP + MT90) Diff Motul Competition 75w140 Both Handbrake Cables replaced (Right OEM Mazda, Left KAVO) Cursed Plug replaced with Silicone Cap Destroy or Die direct Clutch Line (old mazda lines removed yaaay) Tightened up the Gearbox Speed Sender as it was loose.
G19 Turbo Brace tab broke off so the rosejoint bit removed. ... was just knocking about there!!
Fuel Hose under Fuel Filter replaced (was leaking.. pissing all over the floor!)
Now I need to replace a few LEDs with incandescents and it might even pass the ITV/MOT
I'm tired now. NN.

Well it passed the test XD
But the handbrake isn't quite even still, evidently I need to go back in and fettle the adjusters a bit more.
It's so much better than it was, however.

So today I tried to fit a Dave fab brake brace only to find it didn't fit, looks like it's not compatible with abs cars, which I found in the description on other websites selling the brace, was just not in the description on bofi racing, alot of swearing and annoyance followed! I then did a diff oil change and put shiney new drain and fill plugs in. Then I did the gear stick/turret service. Although I couldn't feel any heat coming up I thought it's probably never been done before and went for it. Turns out someone must have noticed the heat and rather than service it, just rammed some sound deadening insulation down there! So you think this needed servicing

Finally managed to bleed the brakes, we now have a brake pedal. Now is the push to get it to the tuner, get the mot, get an alignment, then try make the road trip.
Still going to be tight.
