So it's been pointed out to me that my car is missing a fan. Being an import I know it has a cooling fan and the air con fan. My my question is what way round should they be. Looking down into the engine bay I thought the air con was on the right and cooler left. But I have a 4 blade fan on the left, and no fan on the right. From pictures I've seen the cooling fan is 5 or 6 blades and the aircon 4. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can order a fan and get it fixed! Thanks Missing fan Small 4 blade fan

It looks like your radiator has been changed at some point so it is likely they changed the fan too
Either way, the fan you're missing will be the aircon one as that white plug next to the top hose in the 2nd picture is for the aircon fan

I believe the radiator has been changed at some point, and I'm sure the car has been 'rewired' with the missing fan in mind. The Air con seems to function ok, but the weathers not exactly been hot to test it. But when it does get hot my worried the car will overheat. Looking at fans that are for sale the air con is a 4 bladed fan, which the one in my car is, and the cooling fan like this one www.mx5parts.co.uk/radiator-motor-mk1-p-704.html is a 5 bladed fan?! But the car must be working with a fan otherwise it would overheat surely? But I think they might have used the 4 bladed fan as a replacement for the 5 to cool the car?

Aircon is pointless anyway IMO - save weight and get rid of it! You are going to notice if that fan is good enough for the job if you are stationery in traffic on a hot day - but by then it might be too late, when the weather warms up leave it ticking over on a hot day after a spirited drive and watch the temp - it should cut in a smidge over halfway on the gauge, if the temp stays static - ok - if it still creeps up you have a problem. Alternatively if you are worried - just buy a used fan from autolink - wire it correctly so the 4 blade does aircon and the other does cooling - its a small job

I do quite like Aircon I think by looking at the shroud, it's the main fan that's missing. My idea is to buy the fan and have them both working. Just wanted to check if they are meant to be a certain way around, as I'm sure its been swapped and running on a smaller, less efficient fan. The wiring is the only thing I'm not comfortable with. Thanks though.
