is it possible to improve the standard temp gauge in the instrument panel or easier to fit a separate sensor & gauge? my 1.6 NA has been SC'd and temperatures have risen! Alloy rad fitted and reroute kit planned. i'd like to keep an accurate eye on the temperature on track so i can adjust my session times and style.

It's possible to linearise the stock temperature gauge by changing a few reststors and you can pick resistor values to set the centre temperature and range.
Haven't got the info immediately to hand, but it's do-able.

i'll go with a new gauge.
found the thread on miata.net . it looks complicated, lots of discussion about calibration and "comprehending the thermally destructive prosperities of internal combustion automotive engines". so, leave the oem one as is for backup. if that gauge even twitches, it's hot!
