Because the car had bad compression, we put another block in it over the last few days.
The car is all back together but doesn't start. Cranks but no fire. Disconnecting the fuel lines by the intake manifold confirm there is no fuel, and bridging the FI and GND on the diag port to run the pump doesn't work either. I've swapped the 30a relay out with another and still no go.
Ehere do I go next peeps?

Are all the earths attached? (does the fuel pump have/need one?)
Does it have an immobiliser that might be stopping fuelling?
Is it on non-OEM management that might need a map re-loading?
Does it have any petrol in it? lol

So... Spent another afternoon trying to get things running, and it's still not going.
There is power to the fuel pump but not switched feed from the ign. Bridging the points on the diag port gives nothing, and there's no 12v from the live post on thereeither. But, if I take 12v and put it to the white/red that shogi let send live to the diag port then the car will fire.
This is definately a case of something not connected properly, and the only thing on the diagrams that commonly links all of these seems to be the crank position sensor.
But the Internet doesn't tell me where it is! I have checked the cam angle sensor connections and they are all good, but I think I want s on me thing else.
Help!!!

Have you checked the manuals on that mellens site? www.mellens.net/mazda/I'm not sure which model you have! Perhaps Skuzzle would be willing/nice enough to answer a super-quick "where is the sensor??" question!

Thanks for the link, I've printed out the diagrams and locations of everything from there. Mine is an 89 Mk1, all the guides in there are from 90 onwards but I guess its the same thing.
It mentions a secondary fusebox that's 'above the drivers left knee' - but it's a US manual. Is the fusebox on the passenger side behind the glovebox? Ive seen mentions around the net that it could also be in the NS footwell left kickplate?

Yeah, it's above the passenger's right knee, from what I remember.

Update: Tracked down the relay, was thrown off course by a wiring diagram that shows it as a 4 pin relay, but finding a better one from the Mellens site shows a 5 pin, which I found straight away. It's the large black square one with the yellow connector and can be found next to the lights relay above the drivers right knee.
A new one is hopefully arriving today.

That's it, it's running!
Control circuit relay, £15 on ebay and 2 weeks of my life that I don't ever want to see again!
Now I can start on the recovery after the engine swap - set the idle, bleed the coolant and PAS and I'm back on the road!!!
YYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
