Standard, I have a straight thru decat pipe in the garage that I could fit, just want to explore a replacement cat first, I reckon it would noisy with no baffling, there are loads of suppliers/prices, just interested in others experience of replacements.

My experience is (also echoed by others) is that the replacement ones you get for cheap from MX5Parts etc are carp - they last about 12 months and need replacing again. The OE ones are a lot more expensive for a reason...
I've got a ceramic high flow race cat on mine, it's borderline on the MOT. The high quality magnaflow etc metallic race cats are supposed to be better / more durable though.

Why is it borderline? Noise or emissions?

Emissions - but possibly that's down to the tune that's on it, but if you get it hot then it will go through. The rest if the system is pretty noisy though (FM 3" turbo back).

You wouldn't be the first person to screech to a halt outside the MOT centre 1 minute before your slot after a half-hour race-speed drive to the station to get the cat hot enough lol

It's an import so can always be tested as a Eunos (so non cat test) if it doesn't pass

Any idea how much noisier it is with a straight decat pipe?

From what I remember, way back when, it's not massively noisier, it's just raspier, for want of a better word.
