Last night the car stalled at the lights. Since I started it again, it's making a "chuffing" type noise and if you look down 2 of the trumpets you can see the bright light from combustion in the cylinder, which I don't think you should be able to, so I think I've Canoeed 2 valves. It's down on power and it's banging like a motherCanoeer on overrun. Way more than normal, it's like a Fallujah wedding, which suggests it's running super lean.
My mate reckons it's just jumped a tooth on the cambelt, but I found something lying near the strut tower in the engine bay. Could be entirely coincidental, but it looks like something has sheared and possibly caused this whole scenario. Will upload a pic from my phone.
Thoughts?
Oh, in case you're confused it's a 1.8 in a 1.6 import running Mikuni throttle bodies with open trumpets on a DIY MS1

Can you turn the engine (by hand??) until the cam marks are in the position they should be to confirm they are correctly timed?

If you count any other number than 19 ribs between the sprockets, it will have jumped a tooth

No idea what that is. Does it have rubber on it? Doesn't look like anything from the valve train that I can remember.

Yeah, it's like a little knob with rubber, the black/dark side looks like it's sheared and then covered in grime or oil from the engine bay. It could just have been flicked up off the road or it might be from something custom like the throttle bodies, but it looks like a different coloured metal to the bodies, and they're extremely grimey compared to this particular knob.
It was kind of near the FPR so could be something from that.
I'll check the sprockets/belt ribs this weekend, then get it booked into Skuzzle.
It's about time I get the exhaust sorted so I can get on some more trackdays

I'm not familiar with the throttle bodies, but could it be a blank for something on them? Maybe an injector or something.

So it's been a month since I last had a chance to have a look at the car. Here's a video of how Canoeed it sounds.

I believe that noise is combustion coming through the port and causing the butterflies to flap. Or it's the valves eating themselves.

I haven't got any days off to get it to Skuzzle and I need a trailer.
