Few more pics After spending all Sunday underneath a Corsa doing the clutch - that wasn't fun, all i can say is vauxhall must have had a box of nuts and bolts lying about that needed using up, - used every special tool, spanner, socket etc that I owned!! managed to have a bit of a clean of the engine bay - can actually see my steering rack now! Rebuilt the bottom end and refitted the pistons with nice new rings, just waiting for the head to return now Fitted anew pressure sender that reads the actual oil pressure

I was really going to try and do a proper build thread but alas my feckless, lazy, flibbety jibbet attitude ensured I kept forgetting to take photos and make posts! Suffice to say I got the engine all back together and running. One or 2 issues, couldn't get it to start, turned out to be earth lead! Could not read the oil level on dipstick till I realised the oil was so clean I overfilled it!! Now she's running fine and couldn't resist going online for road tax and having a blast, going to keep revs low for a few hundred miles (up to 4K and gradually increase. So far the low down torque seems to be better, also it sounds different? Nice to have a decent clutch as well. Got loads of other winter jobs to do - rear sills as usual, general tidying. I have already turned the annoying "keys in the ignition and door open" buzzer into "lights left on" more useful. (A Eunos thing I think) I've taken the crappy cheap usb stereo out and fitting a more original style decent 90s tape deck! Whilst rummaging in the loft , I found some aftermarket seat heater pads so took the seats out and covers off, and fitted the heaters, now got heated leather seats, great for open top winter driving. I've moved the needle on the OEM oil gauge to work better with the new sender, it ain't brilliant but I have the aftermarket gauge in the engine bay for accurate readings, I might fit that in the cabin.
My favourite mod - I have moved the bonnet stay, it didn't fit properly with the Jackson Racing intake, so I've adapted it, it now stows alongside the strut brace and holds the bonnet nice and high, chuffed.
I will post some more pics If I can be rear canoed!!

awesome amount of work you've done, all the best with the rest. were the seat warmers easy to wire up and where did you put the switch?

Hi seat heaters were pretty easy, seats out, unclip the covers from the bottom, (silly little wire staples) stick the heating pads in with wires coming out the back corner put everything back together, I ran the wiring under the centre console then stuck the switch next to the glove box, all wired into the cig lighter fuse (using one of those fuse + wire take off thingummyjigs). I really will take some pics now!!!

So to combine 2 threads this is what i posted the other day mighty5s.com/thread/1263/guess-next-repair-job?page=1&scrollTo=14741Ive now attacked it a bit with flap disc, wire brush, etc - usual mk1 lower rear sill mess, i have some nice sheet steel and a welder so will have a bit of fun making up and fitting some patches - by the time i've finished it'll be better and stronger than new - probably wont look that good though! - just in case anyone thinks my "skills" may be transferrable to their own pride and joy! Pics to come

I've just put seat heaters in my OH's CRV, and I didn't know those add-a circuit fuse things existed - that would have made finding a switched live so much easier!
My 5 will definitely get some at some point, but I don't have matching seats at the mo - as soon as that's sorted then a kit will be fitted.
