I designed these a while back but haven't had any time to do much with them ... I think I've made maybe 4 sets in total! So I'm offering a few sets at a reduced rate to get some into the market, and get some decent pictures of them fitted to various cars.
The aim of a door bar in my eyes is to stiffen the large gap left by the door, the chassis is pretty stiff in general but there is a known problem with a vibration / drumming at around 65mph, and this can be improved hugely by adding various chassis stiffening devices.
The chassis strengthening plates you can buy are a help, but they don't close the gap, so although you can feel the difference they make, it's not actually doing much more than returning the car to how it was when it was new. The various door bars on the market in the UK attach to the floor, which only half solves the problem!
So I've designed some bars which attach to the pillars on both sides of the door gap. They will fit with most seats (although I can't guarantee all as there are too many variations of seats and mounts), and they fit with Mk1 door cards without any modification. All good so far ... they do take a bit more work to fit than simpler ones, but the difference they make is well worth it!!
The only pics I have at the moment are of a test set, these were welded from scraps of tube where the production ones are bent from a single length. The mounts and shape are correct though, so you can see where they will fit.
I will edit in better pics as soon as I have them
So I am making 5 sets, they will be powder coated black and will come with all the fittings and a set of instructions on how to fit them.
Price for the group buy will be £175, the normal price will be £200. They can be collected from me in the West Midlands, or I can post them for £15.
If you want a set, add your name to the list below ... if you've got any questions please ask away in the Door Bar thread in the Project M area
