I've got some time off work with the arrival of our first child so thought I might have a little look at app coding. I thought I'd start with iOS, as I have an iPhone, and maybe build a basic app to start with if I can get on with Swift. Anyone with any experience have any pointers? I've signed up to codeschool.com to do a course but any other tips warmly welcomed!

I have recent/relevant experience of having a first child. My advice is use your coding time to sleep and/or do housework to help Mrs out.
I think coding requires the sort of concentration and immersion that a baby human precludes, but best of luck with it fella!

Ha! It is excellent fun being a dad, I'm very much enjoying myself. Because I'm taking time off work there's only so much sleeping and housework I can do... I need to do something more productive with the little one's daytime down time than watch Netflix, so thought I'd have a look at it. It'll be in the curriculum before long anyway I'm sure, best get a head start!
