So... If I do a job (pay for a job haha), I want to do it once and properly. I have previously done a complete refresh of suspension parts and engine mounts to Brand New OEM spec and the car was transformed! so I'm thinking doing the same for the '5 would be good, although good condition secondhand parts are acceptable in this instance, I think I left the laptop charger at work (idiot!!) so am struggling on the phone and don't fancy trawling nutz with it for the thread with the list of all the bolts etc (that will have to wait till next week), but is this list of the bigger parts complete and accurate?? Front corner:Strut Spring Top Mount Top Wishbone Bottom Wishbone Wishbone bushes Droplink Balljoint Hub Wheel Bearing And not forgetting... Anti-Roll Bar Anti-Roll Bar bushes Steering Rack bushes Rear corner:Strut Spring Top Mount Top Wishbone Bottom Wishbone Wishbone bushes Droplink?? Hub Wheelbearing Is that it?? It feels like there should be more... (which there will of course be with all the bolts etc.) I'd probably add new discs/pads/brake fluid at the same time as well, and would likely have to get the steering column welded if even after I'd done all the above, I still had the annoying play I currently have in it... I thank you wise chaps in advance and apologise for yet more noob questions! lol

I can't think of anything you're missing from that list.

Alignment bolts+long upper bolts. Also before you change everything to try and find the source of the annoying play in the steering. CHECK THE PINCH BOLTS ON THE STEERING COLUMN UJs ARE TIGHT!!!!! I speak from expensive experience.

I'm starting this job tomorrow on my mates mk1 - I've got the struts built (mk2 with a coil cut off). Parts are all here as long as all the bolts are reusable so maybe not!! This will be the fourth mk1 I've done so I'm hoping to get it all done in a day!! This could be asking for trouble!

Don't think you've mentioned track rod ends for the fronts anywhere.
The threaded bar method is effective at removing and replacing bushes, but note that it is fairly easy to bend the wishbones slightly when removing the old bushes.
And the Vauxhall bush removal kit isn't as useful as you may hope. I used it and it served a purpose to an extent, but it was by no means perfect for the job and I still needed some other threaded bars and nuts.

Guess what - it was a right sod, luckily John decided he just wanted the shocks and coils changed (got one broken) took us 3 hours to do 1 front corner and then about 45 mins each for the other 3!!
