For the benefit of those who tow see this:- Scary how unstable rear weighting makes it. There was an incident recently where a car was loaded facing backwards causing the towing car trailer to jack-knife - ended up facing the wrong way on a busy motorway. Have to admit I did it once (car was too long to fit on frontwards) but only drove 1/2 mile before giving up and returning home! Take care out there. Cheers, Pewe.

Yup, I learnt this the hard way, I used to tow large refrigerated display trailers to markets etc using vans. often the vans were well loaded with stock as well. To try and keep the weight distributed we used to try and not have too much weight on the nose of the trailer - big mistake - you couldnt go much over 25 mph!! On one occasion I had a wheel bearing go on a trailer and they recovered it on a car trailer, however because of the length of it the rear of our trailer was hanging over the back, plus this was where the fridge motor was, I was following the guy who was towing using a big double cab Navarro - all of a sudden there was a little wiggle and then within a few seconds the back of the trailer was in the hedge and the front of the Nissan was in the opposite ditch, very nasty.
