So I pulled the carpet off my parcel shelf to start looking at my new speaker install project, and discovered this: Fortunately most of it seems to be surface, and it's only on the removable panels, thank god. However, some of the screws on the fuel tank cover have almost completely disintegrated: Does anyone know what the specs of these screws would be? Or even better, does anyone have any they can sell me? tx guise

I was pretty surprised, I must say, especially considering how mint the rest of the car is.
I think I might just order the replacement panels from autolink. They should hopefully be able to supply me with some screws as well.

I've seen the inspection covers for sale and they appear to be fairly cheap. Have no idea about the screws though.
And I've has the same surprise, appears the sound deadening stuff does a good job of holding moisture, far from ideal.

Yikes! Even the rusty donor car I had wasn't that rusty on the panel!

Well my rain rail appears to be ok, so I think what must have happened was at some point in the past the car had a leaky roof, then the moisture just got trapped under the carpet and gradually started eating the panel away. It wasn't damp when I took it out.
Anyway, autolink were very helpful and I now have some replacement panels and screws/bolts on the way. The chap I spoke to said he's seen it happen a few times.

Yeah that looks ideal. I was going to just drill them out but that would probably be easier.

If you can fit them round the washer that's built into the screw head, you should get them out no problem. Still worth starting to spray something on them as well though!
