Once upon a time there was a supercharged MX5 car built for sprinting, hillclimbing and trackdays. IMG_3860 by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr IMG_3856 by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr Sadly the tin worm had gone to work on it and the shell was beyond sensible economical repair. Also I'm bored of the supercharger and the fact it puts me in horrible classes for sprinting. 570bhp Mustangs are not the best match for 220bhp MX5. Went out today and bought this: Untitled by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr Untitled by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr Untitled by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr The plan is to swap the following into it from the green one: Gaz Coilovers Jackson Racing ARBs Wilwood 4 posts Wheels Strut Brace Under car braces Oil Cooler Ali Rad TorSen Diff 6 Speed Box peddle box Clutch Hydraulics Ultra light Flywheel FM Happy meal clutch 4 point Carbing Cage TR Lane Harness bar Spark Sprint 5 seats Harnesses Momo Prototipo Steeringwheel Tow Hooks Fire Extinguisher You'll notice no engine on that list. I need to source a MK2 1.8 lump for this little lot to bolt to: Untitled by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr and then finally paint it to look a bit like this: Untitled by Nicholas Horne, on Flickr First sprint is in April/May. No pressure then!

Vey cool! Never tried throttle bodies, but would love to. I take it engine management is a bit better these days than it was 8 years ago when I last looked into it?

Awesome.
The filtery things on those trumpets, while aesthetically pleasing looks a bit bloomin' restrictive!

Yeah they'll probably not go on it once I work out what I can replace them with.

And if i can save many pounds and get many licenses can we race this at mission motor sport next year?. It will be a purely sprint/hill car so no good for circuit racing as it won't have a full cage.

Horney, what diff ratio have you got? The ITB Mk1 I used this year was on a 4.7 & it helped keep it on the boil, especially up the steeper bits.

Been waiting for this thread to appear since you posted the picture of the ITBs, much envy. Can't wait to see how it ends up

For example my father in law had a Morgan+4SS with a 3.7 diff in it, the final drive completely dulled the acceleration.

It must be reasonably short at the mk2 10ae and RS that this combo came from are fairly sprightly in standard trim. If it not right Incan always swap the diff for a shorter one anyway.

Nick we have trumpets at my work that will bolt on I happen to have four of the same ones theyre 70mm long Also, I currently run a 6 speed with a 4.3 torsen so you can see the difference once yours is up and running if you like?
