My 1995 R-ltd has wiring at the rear deck for the heating elements on the hardtop, but there is no switch on my dash!?
I thought on earlier models it came on with the fan heater, but I thought mine should have a switch. Can anyone confirm?
Cheers

I don't know but a multimeter test should quickly tell you if the fan gives you 12v at the cable.

My 94 has a switch. Check the blanking plugs for a loose switch connector?

I reckon my switch has been taken for space, as my 3 switches by the ignition are as follows:
Zoom starter button, Front fogs, Electric mirror controls.
Will test as Horney suggests however.

My UK 1.8 '95.5 also has the wiring and plug on the rear deck but no switch, next to the ignition are 2 blanks (I have manual windows) and the rear fog switch. Nothing behind the blanks. My hard top has a perspex screen though, so not an issue for me.

Hmmm...odd this, I guess the problem is so few 5s are left standard. I guess when I take the dash out in the spring, I might be able to sort out an additional switch.

Have a look at the ecu loom. There should be a blue/red wire on pin 2L going to a relay in the boot for the rear demister. Here's a wiring diagram for a '95. Although there's no sign of the actual switch on it..... Attachments:

My '93 1.8 had wiring on the rear shelf for the demister and a relay socket and fuseholder in the boot but I had to add both the relay and the dash switch myself. The connector for the switch was floating behind one of the switch positions. Luckily for me one was blank. So long ago now that it's a bit vague but the blank had the socket for the dimmer option plugged into the back of it and fortunately I'd been warned that the blanking plate contains a shorting link which if unplugged from the loom will stop the dash lights working. So that's now just tucked up behind the dash.
