Rebuilt my engine with new rings and big end bearings after 200 miles at max 3 - 4k revs i changed the oil and filter (bloody waste - clean as a whistle!!) so now Im increasing the revs up to 6k (not for massive prolonged periods and not in 1st or 2nd - except for a bit of unexpected wheelspin!) blasting it down the a303 then coming off the throttle is supposed to do it good! Its got mineral oil in whilst the rings bed in - engine feels nice - loads more torque (increased cr from the head skim and the rings) So my question, nearly done 400 miles - can I start redlining and then im thinking 1000 miles for new filter and synth oil?
ps went out this pm around sunset - roof down, heated seats, heater on full, what a pleasure!

I'd be smashing it off the limiter already. It's long constant RPMs you want to avoid. Going up and done through the revs is fine.
Ideal run would be 50 miles of be roads keeping it below 5,000rpm. Then 50 miles of B road limiter action. Job done.

I recall reading that there are two schools of thought - nurse it gently or rev the rods off it Apparently the latter is good for getting more power out of an engine, although I'm not sure of the effect on longevity!
