Seeing as the what are you listening thread is very popular, I was wondering if we have any other musicians on here and if so what you play etc. I'm a guitarist (who doesn't play anywhere near as much as I should or used to), here's what I've currently got: Charvel Spectrum - Late 80s/early 90s super strat, thin neck, active pickups (with a weird wah function on them) and a Schaller trem, originally designed as a Jeff Beck model (iirc). Charvel Spectrum - Loved my pink one so much I saw this come up on eBay wrongly listed and without the scratch plate, got it cheap (unlike the replacement scratch plate from the US). Charvel Fusion Custom - Another 80s super strat, complete overkill 24 fret, short scale, 3 humbuckers (rails in mid and neck) with coil deactivation on all of them, so you could have any combination of all three in single or double, Schaller trem and sparkle gold, not an understated guitar! Sold it a few years back to afford my engine dying Squier Tele - First guitar, abused and covered in stickers, now got a Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge and silly gauge strings in B (or C) standard. Homemade Frankenstein - Made from a cheap horrible Chinese strat a friend was binning, had fun routing the trem recess, even if it's not completely square... So, what does everyone has own or play?

I'm also a guitarist - been in loads of bands over the years including writing and recording our own stuff I have a cheap electro-acoustic and the best electric guitar in the world - a genuine American 1990s PRS, stop tail, 24 fret, in natural, 5 position twin humbuckers inc. the HFS - hot, fat and screams!!!! I'll post a pic sometime

I can play a guitar.
When I say play I mean I can just about string together a few chords and make it sound like music.
I used to occasionally jam with a friend and we used to have a blast with two acoustic guitars, big fat spliff and a few cans. Should probably do that more often really.

I'm a bass player, been playing for well over 20 years from being in the school 'house band' to full hardcore metal, and now that I'm old, a Blues Brothers tribute band! In the midst of starting a new covers band and doing a bit of studio sessioning here and there. I've an Ibanez soundgear 801 5 string bass, I was through a Gallien Krueger head and trace cabs but I've sold the head for a TC electronics and I'm really liking it! Heres a cheesey pic of me and the Blues lot... www,ukbluesbrothers.com

Another bass player here (hence my user name....) Played my first gig in 1968....been a pro and semi-pro player off and on ever since, many bands, all genres, much touring. Free world travel to interesting places! Tools of the trade: '62 Fender Jazz (my main gigging bass): '70s Danelectro Longhorn (short scale, very light, tight and punchy sound): The Dano in action, Rotterdam a few years ago I think, band less than half my age: And a fretless Furth acoustic: Amplification is various Gallien Krueger rigs.

What a great thread I played in Rock bands through my teens and 20s during the 60s and 70s - singer / bassist. I had a Fender Mustang Bass for years which being a short scale was ideal for my short stubby fingers. I had to pack in playing when I started to go deaf. I used to mess about with guitars a lot in those days - rebuild old ones and customise them - so after I retired from my day job in my early 50s I started making and repairing guitars as a bit of a hobby / money earner. Did it for about 10 years before I retired proper (pensions came good) and reclaimed my garage and got back into cars and motorbikes. The only guitar I have these days is an old Washburn acoustic, I gave all my other stuff away to my lad - he has a little recording studio at home where I've recorded a bit of stuff with him - mostly Floyd covers, one or two of which actually got finished Some of the stuff I made, and a pic of the Mustang This one was made for a local lad who played in a punk tribute band, he wanted a copy of the Jake Burns ESP but couldn't afford the price tag on an original so he got me to make him one Gibson Explorer, this one was restored from a well worn out one for a guy on Guernsey Made this one to a customers own spec, it wasn't my fave looking guitar but it looked nicer in the flesh than in the photos In the making Making the neck Gibsom Blueshawk copy made for my lad. He'd wanted one for ages so saved up but when we went to look at one we were both very disappointed in the build quality of it - so he asked me to make him one Under construction Only pic I have of the Fender Mustang Bass

Nice work Dewi! The hollow body Tele looks wonderful. Love the Mustang. I struggle with deafness too, and tinnitus. Rock'n'Roll!

I never really had a hope as far as deafness goes Mr L, apprenticeship in a noisy marine engineering co, riding motorbikes in pre helmet days - no hearing protection of course - and playing in loud rock bands. By the time I was 30 I was well on my way to losing my hearing, but there was a hereditary factor too, my old chap and his Dad were both deaf by the time they'd reached their 40s
The Mustang dated from about 1963 - 64 which would make it Pre CBS.

Some nice gear everyone has got! Dewi, that is some amazing craftsmanship, I'd love to have a crack at making one from scratch one day.

I play bass (badly) and saxophone (less badly but still badly). Haven't played properly in 10 years now, enjoyed being in a band. I enjoy cars and bikes more so no time to jam!
