Horney, would it be worth having an FAQ section, or perhaps a 'how to' on insurance, or a sticky, so people can see which insurance companies insure 5s and their respective mods, keep notes on their claims handling, changes in policies, minimum ages, experience requirements, best way to contact, and maybe a rating system? If it could be updateable by everyone then one person doesn't have to do all the work. That way we'll have a current list of who's worth calling and who isn't. Start a topic and I'll make it a sticky.

Just thought I would add my 10p
Adrian Flux - Everyone pushed for me to use them but they were way out on price, I did use them one year - they supported mods when others didn't want to touch them (as a younger driver). Paid through the nose for it though!
Sky - Honestly they were great for me, I can't say a bad word agaisnt them, when dealing with them they were always easy to get hold of etc. I still get a quote from them every year.
Greenlight - Just as good as Sky for service, they understand the cars & the mods/ask the right questions etc. Also they support track day insurance which was very reasonable last time (Not Combe tho but most don't anyway?). They have not been beaten on price so far, I will always recomend these guys & girls.

Just thought I'd add that Greenlight are great. Smashed the closest price by £400, and don't charge for mods at all up to 180bhp. Beat Adrian Flux quote by less than half the price!
Admiral were going to want £150 on top for alloys, induction, and exhaust. Lol.
Neil on Nutz is really helpful by PM, and I can't fault them in any way.
I will add, I think you have to be over 21, and have a NCB available. Also their site says they don't insure any Tailgate McNoIndicate due to bad claim history haha.

Made sticky. I don't think I can make anyone able to edit it.
I need to look at a Wiki plugin for the forum really.

I use Airsports Insurance Bureau (AIB) for mine.
Found them cheaper than Greenlight, any mods that don't increase power add no more to policy.
Sky used to be good, seems in the last couple of years there customer service has slipped, and I always seem to be waiting on hold for about 30mins before getting through to someone. AIB answer the phone straight away.

Just to give some feedback on AIB, I rung them when I was looking at renewing and they were very good on the phone - quick to answer, rattled through the questions quickly, gave me more miles than other quotes, and came out (slightly) cheaper.
They had to ring their underwriters to speak to them about mods, but they rang back quickly and when they said they would.
The only downside was that they said that driving other cars Third Party Only wasn't included within the cover (something about due to the age of the vehicle??) which was the deal-breaker for me - although I don't drive other cars very often, I would rather be able to move a friend's car off the drive (or whatever) and know I was insured and not likely to get stung for 6 points and a massive fine if Mr Plod happened to drive past at that exact moment. Likewise, it would be nice to be able to try out others' cars if and when I went to a meet! It might just have been the insurer they were quoting from for me (Markerstudy) but it is a question that we should always ask anyway lol
So, overall, very impressed, and the only reason I didn't go with them was the technicality. They seem to use the same insurers as everyone else, but due diligence is needed with regards to feedback on insurers anyway, no matter which broker one uses!

Strange, the policy I have with them allows me to use other cars third party. I explained to them that I'd like this feature on my policy this time around as I didn't have it last year and they had no issues with it. I'm with markerstudy also.
It seems you always get better customer service with the smaller companies, I used to be with sky but they were really bad last time I went to renew with them a couple of years ago so switched to Aib.

I swear they just pick and choose at random lol Greenlight said I shouldn't add the missus on because it would increase the cost, but when I asked them to add her on in a later phone call, it made no difference anyway Insurance - basically robbing bastards trying to get away with whatever they can... lol. Not to mention the recent story about inflated damage repair costs!

My better half had a policy with markerstudy, it had DOC, and it was tptf on an old prarrie canoety Honda Accord. Her current insurer Admiral do not give her DOC, apparently because she has an automatic licence. I think they make it up as they go.
