I use Footman James & A Plan. Lancaster advertise on Nutz.........Adrian Flux are to be avoided as above. Never heard of Brentare as per Zed above, but worth a call on personal recommendation.

Never heard of Brentare as per Zed above, but worth a call on personal recommendation. www.brentacre.co.uk/they are petrolheads, understand modified cars & drive them based in Swansea, ~15 miles away from where I live so easy to visit for the 'personal' service (think 'looking them in the eye when paying' ). also, they do not charge 'extras' for adding mods once the policy is setup for example, when my mrs was below than the 'magic' 25 years old age 'barrier' and Brentacre were cheaper to insure her properly on a heavily modified mk2 Golf (tdi converted etc.) with agreed value etc. than a ' normal' insurer wanted for a 'boring' standard ford focus roadcar ^^ with the exception of being a happy customer, I have no affiliation with Brentacre insurance. Rich.

Thanks to Zed, £70 cheaper using the above compared to my renewal from Aplan.

I’ve recently insured with Adrian Flux, they offered a very competitive price on my supercharged mk2, including 3rd party on other cars. Interestingly for a small additional premium (£25) they cover ‘fully comp’ on other vehicles up to a max £20k claim for damage to the vehicle you’re driving.

I’ve recently insured through Adrian Flux Fixed Do you know the insurer they have put you with? The FC coverage extension is interesting but I'm always dubious of these things - there is always small print to hide behind come claim time... lol

Right, being lazy I think I will just try Footman James, after a quick re-skim of this thread. Need to get this sorted soon as my car is almost finished.

I did a search on MoneySupermarket and it came up with 'Performance Direct', a broker. They are insuring my modified Mk1 import for £110 with 0 years NCD as a social/pleasure only, i.e. no commuting, and a 3000 mile limit. Can't really argue with that!

Footman James didn't even quote me as I had 3 points. Wow, ok. Way to remove 90% of potential customers. Even my other half who lives at 29mph has three points.
Brentacre were friendly, if determined to make me use my garage every single night. As were the motorsport specialists Reis. Both were highly recommended in different places.
I went with Sky in the end, who are more flexible. Now I can use a garage as and when I want to, rather than being told. Although when we move I may take them up on their offers and high level of cover.
